When people feel their concerns are being ignored - or not even heard - it heightens their frustration, and propensity to vent.

Compared to "average online community" ? Not very toxic.
Compared to "average online FPS community" ? A haven of polite, respectful discussion.
Fact.

Less Fact.
Most FPS devs have alternate titles in which the player / consumer / whatever can go to find what they're actually looking for. The **** we give PGI is mostly well constructed and rightful process. The things I've seen thrown at EVERY FPS developer that I've ever dealt with for any length is eye shattering.
The Overwatch community for one is tame as ****. Compared to them we are sweet angels, and compared to some of the old school stuff from way back... I've seen less hate in war photos. The worst the MWO community has is a sense of entitlement and an idealistic look on some subjects because the mechs are older than I am. We've been around for ever, but all we got is MWO right now.
That's not helping matters. FPS / TBS / TT / etc: all dumped into one bucket AND we're THIS civil with eachother. I haven't even been banned here for correcting anyone yet.
You know your community's toxic when you prove a mod / admin incorrect (about the game) and are banned post argument and your posts wiped from the forum. THAT's Toxic. Been there done that. You guys are ******* amazing.
Which lets lay that out right now so you're not all in the Dark.
Banned from 2 Dark Souls Discords, 6 Banns on Armored Core forums, 1 Ban from a battlefield forum... Granted only one of those is a shooter... you guys treat me like a family member and you treat irritating posters like people.

Been playing video games since SIMNET in the 1980's (before there were video games) and the AAR's were toxic at times.....so, yes, a very long time.... (about 1100 hours in SIMNET; since I was stationed at the Armor Center.... It caused several divorces.....)
To date, Eve and WoT's imploded and are as toxic as MWO.... Loooong gone from them.
MWO is a more personal form of Toxic in my experience....some players really "believe" they are "that good" and are simply rude. I wonder if it is their first video game?
I'm just about done and have disabled the mic and sound most of the time and I'm limiting being on the forum. Sadly, toxic behavior, its contaminated the game itself... Match after match of apathy, discontent and angst that usually boils into frustration and hate....

I mean, I've gotten to the point of threatening team mates with teamkilling if they don't move up. Not that I ever would, but taking the Commissar approach has apparently persuaded an otherwise untouched and purposeless Dire Wolf to stop cowering and help out the angry armor-stripped Huntsman pilot threatening to attempt to kill the Dire if he doesn't step in the circle.
I just need to get a reign on my salty, brash, and frankly unacceptable chat behavior.
