Well I don't think this game is close to being the worse, if it was that bad, I wouldn't let my daughter near the game.

There is of course the mute/block option.

If you didn't notice the name of the person being abusive, it probably isn't that bad, and if you did report, block, problem solved.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but yeah, it can be pretty bad. Had a good match yesterday, ended up being 1v1 at the end (one of those rare close games). During the last few minutes of the match, I was referred to as "******" (mentally challenged) in chat. I supposedly was just hiding in the back (supernova-a, 2ATM12, 2ASRM6, 2ERLRG and tag), not sharing armor (red internal CT and LT). People just bitching. Burned through all 6T of ATMs and over a 1T of SRMs before the final enemy. And this was from people on my team. I still hunted the last enemy instead of capping their base. One person on the team congratulated me on a good match. In years past, when people would have these kind of matches, everyone would say "great game". It's very rare now.

I've played several different online games with communities...STO, SWTOR, EvE online, WoT WoWS, WT, etc...etc...etc...and by far (..even with the exceptions) the MWO community has been the least toxic I have ever experienced.

In game?: There's a select few who mill about that are toxic.

The Forum?: Ooooh boy this forum can at times be nearly as bad as the Elite: Dangerous official forum and that place is just one big hug box for PvErs. Dissent isn't allowed and the mods even get in on the bias action. Thankfully the mods aren't like that here.
