That newly found tankiness isn't worth the loss of agility they've suffered. The 90t mechs are ballerinas compared to the 100 tonners, but they also wouldn't get the same amount of hit points as the 100 ton mechs. I think it would be great to have these 100t walls of death that needed a coordinated effort for smaller mechs to stop. Finding their assaults would be a high priority for scouts, and teams would be hopefully less likely to sacrifice their own slow mechs to do a nascar.

I mean, my Atlas has over 230 points of fronal CT health, tosses out 100 damage alphas, and is running around at 60kph. Its pretty "wall of death".

Ignore that 1 mil cost to buy things, I pulled to UAC/20 and ammo out to put on something else because I was running a RAC build on it for the event.

^That build has a listed 130 firepower in the stats window btw^

What build is that? I haven't seen an even slightly scary Atlas in quite a long time. The Old AC20 SRM build is just weak, too short ranged, and too hot compared to everything else out there. The heavy gauss or the light engines might help it, but those mounts..... I just don't think it can do anything close to as well as other assaults, especially now that agility was completely decoupled from motor size, which was a huge mistake if you ask me. Tone it down maybe, but don't completely take that away.

Driving an assault hurts badly when you're at the point where you know a lot of good positions to outplay people but know you can't get to 90% of them because of how slow you go. My Hellbringer has a 3 time higher KDR than my Dire Wolf and over 200 point higher damage per match solely because it can keep open firing lines on targets, not be blocked by the team, is fast enough to react to changes in the battle, and doesn't get focused down because its not an assault.
Its really sort of like heavies vs mediums in World of Tanks. There heavy tanks have high armor but move slow while mediums have mid to high speed but pretty bad armor. Heavies work great for sitting in one spot and being a turret, good on corridor maps (or at least if no one is spamming gold rounds), but mediums can drive up to great positions and route entire enemy teams, changing the dynamic of the match by getting to places 5 times faster than a heavy would.

I'm mainly an Assault pilot, I have no issue maintaining a 450+ Avg Match Score and 3.0 KDR and 2.0+ WLR.

Exactly this, Assault mechs aren't exactly a good fit for pilots who are new to the game. Newer players would be better off starting in medium/heavy mechs that are more forgiving of bad positioning with their speed.

Case in point... First match tonight, just then.

I lead the corner because no one on the team had the intellect to move out the way of strikes and just bunched on a corner and wouldn't go around it.
Still managed 1k, 580MS in a loss - leading from the front and using terrain to lessen damage.
It's not hard.

decoupling the engines was needed, due to how lore handeled engine sizes for mechs, but those that wanted this also wanted a better tonnage related and chassis specific agility to be added for balancing that out..

If that's happening, an assault mech is a wall of death. If not they are easy target. Working as a team is the base of the game.
NB: if you hide until midgame to score easy kill and let your team do the dirty work and you found yourself pants down alone in the wood, you will get gangr***d. Don't whine if you do that and you die...
