The Clan voice over in game is terrible. Forced gravelly gruff voice. HATE THAT GUY.
Also. I WISH this game was 3036 so no clans but hey what you gonna do?

I wish that the both of you could have heard the voice they used for the Clan Training Officer back in the ancient, old "MechWarrior 2" single-player game... It was absolutely smooth, without any sign of a so-called "gravelly voice" like you're hearing in MWO. That would be the kind of voice that I would want to hear in MWO from the Clan side, not this ugly one that seems like a cheap duplicate of the BattleTech Cartoon Series. Not all Clans are freaking Jade Falcon... or as I, being a current Ghost Bear Loyalist would term them, "Neon Green Pigeons"... but then again, I hope they chuckle at this joke.

We can still do with one Academy/Tutorial/'Testing Grounds'... PGI could simply swap up the CheckOut Mechs at random, and randomly swap "Captain Adams" with a 'Clan Star Captain' of some sort, all without any kind of regard to the user entering the area. They could also randomize the Mechs in the Academy Challenges and Testing Grounds, as well. It doesn't have to be completely static all the time, or it just gets awfully boring.

Yup, same here. Upon hearing that voiceover for the first time didn't make me think Clan or even Battletech at all. My first thought was, "When the hell did Clan equal Orc", because that as all I hear in that voice. Classic Blizzard male "For the Horde!" Orc.
Thanks goodness for the option to turn them off.

I get that it's presented as an IS training ground, but the clan 'mechs don't have to "break lore".
The training grounds are suggested to be a training simulator. So there's no reason why the IS wouldn't include a few clan 'mechs in the simulation, to let their MechWarriors to study their strengths and weaknesses.
(I agree about the Angry Clan Guy voice, it cracks me up every time I fire up my clanner account.)

Seriously, MW2 (through Mercs) is, in my opinion, the TRUE Golden Age of MechWarrior...
Oh, the memories. My ONLY beef with that instructor during my first playthrough was, "hey, this guy is using contractions when he speaks"...lol

I just do not believe anything will change unless it makes money. I have the same two bugs I've had for two years and I've reported them and no one has ever even addressed them.
We appreciate all the ideas that you'll put forward, but ask that you take into consideration:
- Academy training is directed towards the needs of new players
- Simple is better (not only from a teaching standpoint, but because of limited resources)
- The Academy provides resources for experience players to test their builds, rather than test their skills. For example, the turrets on the firing range display the damage done to them, thus allowing the player to evaluate their offensive potential under normal, hot and cold environments
- The BattleMech AI is very primitive. For now, there is no support for anything other than a ‘Mech that acts like a (very, very dumb) turret
