The screenshots look okay. Some sort of Filter I assume from the looks of it on some of these.
More importantly..... the scenery. I love it. Mechcombat? not too sure yet since I actually haven't really seen it all yet.

Remember, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. Until we get the demo, I'm holding off my wallet until I see more. For now it's all hype to me.

sometimes minimalist design goes too far.

Still a bit leery about the Mechlab situation (or lack there of), but everything else sounds pretty solid. If there are that many mechs and variants available, that will at least help ease the pain.
I do hope that they might consider some customization if it had to deal with temporary field modifications (like replacing a Centurion's destroyed A/C10 with an A/C5 until a replacement 10 can be found. Something like that, however I feel that is either outside their vision or the scope of what they are trying to do.
I guess we will have to wait for more info to be sure.

from the article
Quote
you want a little bit of logistics (where you go, how you get there, how many Mechs to take)
bullets is to much
you don't want a management nightmare

There is also no compass or target mech info as well.
I chalk this up to very early development footage (pre-Alpha build?) and won't worry about things like that not being there. It's far too early to take anything we see as absolute.

MW2: Mercs and MW4: Mercs did just fine while having you pay for your ammo.
Heck, MW3 even went so far as to have you worry about how much armor you had in stock for field repairs at your MFBs.
Why would MW5 have any more of a problem with it? Unless modern gamers are so far down the "no thought required" rabbit hole that even basic inventory management is too much for them.

Hopefully it turns out as described.

Also, needs a compass with included bearings and COLORBLIND SUPPORT (this is the make or break for me). Give us the option of changing HUD / Marker colors, we shouldn't have to dive into the files and mod it.

Firepower for Speed (like Downgrad Engine for 2 more ML and some HS)
Armor for Speed (like 2 Tons of Armor for downgraded Engine)
etc.
The readthrough of the PC Gamer article is nice so far and if they dont mess up i will buy into the game for sure and have 3 Mech games to play.

So NOW, their making a game for the "core MechWarrior fanbase". I will suspect a lot of them thought that MWO was supposed to be the game that PGI was making for them. Who knew?

Can only hope after it’s release they start the swap to the new (better) engine.

Thats the thing comparing CryEngine with Unreal. Unreal always looks more vibrant and colorful, almost cartoonish at times, while CryEngine always looks more realistic and dark.

Logistics is a huge part of the 'MW: Merc' series. And ammo generally isn't the chore.
As for the screenshots, pretty, but why are the AC/2 and AC/5 using the same ammo?

My question is what do they even consider to be the "core Mechwarrior fanbase"? The arcade guys or the tabletoppers that appreciate lore?
