It's not even lore-friendly. It's like PGI just randomly pre-nerfs an IS Mech.
Now the quirks better be good.

F PGI, I'm canceling my Nightstar ultimate pakage, this is what they call the old bait and switch, no wonder they didn't release the art before now..... many are going to cancel their order- like me....what BS.

I would suggest against knee jerk reactions over the model, things can always be fixed. The arms are not that bad, sorry but a bit over reacting here a bit. No need to go to def con 5 here over this.

Nope, this was bait and switch, they lowered the arms a lot- from shoulder to just above the waist, no problem, will just get a refund.

It's as low as a Mauler.

It is precisely that bad. It's not a Marauder IIC which can make it up with firepower, and on top of that it has severe space constraints because most of its weapons are in the arms (with hands and lower actuators), center torso, and head, and all of the IS Assault-grade ballistics (Gauss, AC/10, UAC/10) are 7 slots and all of the IS Assault grade energy weapons are at least 2 slots (Large Laser, Large Pulse, PPC, HPPC, even the damn LPPC).

The only thing the NSR had going for it was the presumed cockpit-level mounts.

It's a matter of principle: neither concept art nor lore (art and minis) have the arms that low. This kind of nerf is hard to understand and should not be taken lightly.

I am not cancelling my pre-order because I want to make a statement but I am certainly not upgrading. ...which is a shame since I seriously considered that.

I am curious to what PGI's reasoning is for lowering the arms.... any guesses anyone? My guess..... everybody loves all their weapons waist high, unless they are clan.

Uh... actually, the original art and minis have down turned arms.

Spoiler

Also, gotta say... I assumed the arms would go down. It does have lower arm actuators, after all.

I tweeted Russ about gameplay concerns. Hope we can get this fixed.

It's the perspective of those images. In fact the lasers of the arms are almost exactly on cockpit level, the gauss just below that:

PGI's rendition has its arms far lower. While it does make certain sense that the Nightstar could technically lower its arms, it's not what the advertising concept art was showing.

EXPLAIN THIS

The same thing happened when the Huntsman dropped and had the title "The Hunter" which came with the Orion IIC, so it got changed. The title for the Arctic Wolf pack will likely be changed before release.

Maybe the guy doing the 3D models used the TRO artwork instead of PGIs artwork.
