You knew it would be mediocre it is an IS mech, can't have one of those perform well! This just looks like a different style Marauder to me. I would assume that playstyle and hit boxes would be the same given the side and front profiles of this mech.
I read that Marauder comparison a lot, maybe because lorewise that is where the Nightstar came from.
Maybe someone who got the NSR can post comparison pictures, but a MAR has a real slick front profile.
It's not too tall, has the arms to the front and with just a little torso twist you can protect your CT really well.
Your weakness in a MAR are the STs especially from the side profile. But you can tank really well and easy.
Main weapons are in a ST so you can keep fighting with a side torso gone (and in a MAR you should miss pieces of your mech at the end of a match).
Now look at the NSR pictures, it's almost as tall as a Banshee and as wide as a King Crab.
You have a huge CT that can be shot even at an 90 degree angle. Even bigger ST pylons. The arms are looong and go straight to the side, terrible convergence, corner peeking and you will lose your main weapons with your arms.
My point is, it looks a little bit like a Marauder or Mad Cat Mk II, but every single aspect of its model is strictly worse.
From size and weapon placement to IS tech and quirks.
Sure people will post 1k damage pictures and say its good but you can do that with (almost) every assault mech in the game especially with the current matchmaking. If unchanged, in 2 months you will see as much Nightstars as you will see King Crabs in QP and none in FW.
