Yep Called it. I love how people were using the whole "if you can see if you can shoot it" argument to support the arms being moved up. Welp, with the arms being moved up, I see it, and I shoot.....but half the time my shots now hitting walls, hills or other friendly mechs as I try to corner poke with the mech. Seems that I CAN'T shoot what I see with the arm angle moved up.

Well, to be fair, I don't think the arm versions make too much of a difference gameplaywise.
Maybe you put 5% of your shots into corners with the straight arms now, but with the slant arms you would put those 5% into the ground.

Problem with the mech is, that it shines in no area, no role and has too many small problems, which add up to a mediocre mech.

But from certain angles it looks really cool in action, I give it that...

Those arms are extremely far apart.

Hits you deserve are going to go around mechs, between legs, between arms because of the way the shots come together where your crosshair touches the terrain.

Sometimes its not a problem if your rangefind is close to the target, but if your backdrop is the sky for example, shots will converge at 2000m.

Probably should demand a system where shots converge based on target range before you pre-order that next mech pax.

Yeah, can we get the old arms back? This thing is way too wide now, and it looks kinda ********.

I can't look that this picture without thinking the original design is saying to me "I need a hug" and the new design amped it up to "I am going to give you a hug....like or not!"

The mech just looks like a super needy friend..

Final one looks ugly. Original looked like a beefed up ebon jag ... way better in general.
But i can see why people like the slightly higher mounts more. #tryhardsfornightstars

As much as I hate hitting dirt and teammates, I love the goddamn NSR. Specifically the NSR-9FC. Got a 1k damage game with 7 kills running it stock. As much as I'd like the arm width to be shortened and there be a (very) slight arm incline, this is definitely the premier IS mech for me.

You knew it would be mediocre it is an IS mech, can't have one of those perform well! This just looks like a different style Marauder to me. I would assume that playstyle and hit boxes would be the same given the side and front profiles of this mech.

I read that Marauder comparison a lot, maybe because lorewise that is where the Nightstar came from.

Maybe someone who got the NSR can post comparison pictures, but a MAR has a real slick front profile.
It's not too tall, has the arms to the front and with just a little torso twist you can protect your CT really well.
Your weakness in a MAR are the STs especially from the side profile. But you can tank really well and easy.
Main weapons are in a ST so you can keep fighting with a side torso gone (and in a MAR you should miss pieces of your mech at the end of a match).

Now look at the NSR pictures, it's almost as tall as a Banshee and as wide as a King Crab.
You have a huge CT that can be shot even at an 90 degree angle. Even bigger ST pylons. The arms are looong and go straight to the side, terrible convergence, corner peeking and you will lose your main weapons with your arms.

My point is, it looks a little bit like a Marauder or Mad Cat Mk II, but every single aspect of its model is strictly worse.
From size and weapon placement to IS tech and quirks.

Sure people will post 1k damage pictures and say its good but you can do that with (almost) every assault mech in the game especially with the current matchmaking. If unchanged, in 2 months you will see as much Nightstars as you will see King Crabs in QP and none in FW.

I love that if you put the wolf eyes on the wolf phoenix and therefore all the NSRs, the cockpit area looks like a wolf or dog's snout and teeth. It has its own nose art!

I feel like this was a missed opportunity for phranken.

that actually is pretty cool, lol. Could have made a very cool Egyptian god motif that way, too

Somehow I can only see an Uziel wearing a Luchador mask... xD

Great. Now I've got images of that mech going in for a German Suplex on a Fatlas. Mechwarrior Online melee confirmed?!

New Nightstar looks great, aesthetically it looks like it will shoot you or punch you or both.

That arm adjustment is huge for hill humping. Thing went from almost being a Timberwolf to being an Ebon Jaguar.

true though the source art really never gave a lot of info as to the top....

mini gives a little more, but it's rather low drag and sleek (while still ugly as sin)

yes for more skilled players, I agree. I've spectated too many self proclaimed ubers who managed to chew dirt in Jagers and other such mechs to buy into the majority of our steering wheel using playerbase noticing.

I admit to being biased and cynical though. Fortunately for me, I didn't order this thing anyhow, so no sleep lost over it's latest tummy tuck and chin lift.

they did a good job "deuglying" it xD

on the other hand it hardly looks like a night star anymore.

Looks more like a mouse than a wolf to me, with those rodent teeth protruding under the nose and the vents looking like round ears.

Eh, ugly is in the eye of the beholder... my first Nightstar redo was actually pretty similar to this one... and I moved on because it was ugly.. and as you said didn't really look like a Nightstar. One is lanky and sprawly and ugly, the other is short boxy and ugly, lol
