And considering the Clan's 240 ton cap, it is not surprising the number of Hellbringers (65 tons) that were played due to high hardpoints/ECM and tonnage. At 240 tons IS would have brought T-bolts (before Warhammers/Marauders were released) due being 65 tons and high energy hardpoints also.

so wait a moment, who actually won? because the numbers clearly speak for clan, but i see no "Clanners have won/IS have won/tie" anywhere in PGIs post.

based solely on what's been written here, I believe the answer is that nobody "won" because, at the end of the event, the "tug of war" bar wasn't within the "capture threshold" of either faction. It seems that the clan had achieved the "capture threshold" early on, but the inner-sphere launched successful counter-attacks at the end which pulled the bar back into neutrality.

a tie is absolute ******** tho, because either you succeed in conquering the planet (=win for clans) or you fail (= win for IS). there is no place for a tie in this event.

also: while i dont know all details of the lore, was the battle of luthien not a "bet" of how many troops would be needed to take the planet? if the clan side failed to do so, then it would be a defeat, right?

That is why PGI write up said it was a Pyrrhic victory. A tie in the event is the same as in the normal FP drops. To truly win the IS had to be on the other end of the bar, which would have allowed them to regain ownership of all the planets that were in play.

The Tukayyid events had been run when CW/FW/FP setup had a winner had greater than 50%. A tie was not possible but then it was a simple win/loss and the units generally came out in force at the end. If the defender won they kept the planet, if they lost the attack owned the planet. But the current setup there are three possible outcomes, a IS or Clan win where the winning side gets to keep their planets and take 4 of their opponents or a tie where no planets change hands.

It does make one wonder though, did those IS forces who were dropping at the end thought that as long they kept the Clans out of that endzone things would be interesting, or was the attempt to move the bar to the or pass the 50% mark? Most likely they were playing to just to be playing and rack up some wins, to show they made an attempt because obviously no one on the Clan side thought otherwise. And it is that reason so many are in a tizzy :)

For the next Capitol event, it will be interesting to see how some play it. From getting the requirements in for the goodies then take a break prior to the end of the event.

Abandon the Tug-of-War "X matches to 100%" method and just count overall matches, with the progress bar being dynamic based on matches played. No wasted matches that way.

Wall-of-Text Stats, i love it, good read.
but the event outcome is still a bummer.
if u insist on keeping the tug of war mechanic you shuould adjust the duration of future events accordingly. since only the last Invasion Phase counts for the overall event outcome, the event duration should only be ONE INVASION PHASE long! pretty simple logic isnt it.

In fact i did put extra effort in this event, like the tukayiid, meaning i played way more FW than i would normaly have. not for the long ago achieved rewards, not for the fun, but for victory.
But since i did not play on the last day of the battle for luthien event, the extra effort was in vain, i got...

I very much appreciate the stats.

Regarding the tug-of-war.....how this latest Halloween event (how it has been set up initially, seems like it will be changed) looks to be set up, was several steps in the wrong direction on the tug-of-war progress bar. I know you want more of a see-saw, but that will drive active players like me out of MWO, as it takes a 11 DAY event and makes only the last couple of hours (which are Oceanic) really count. With +10% moves one side can get it to 100%, win hundreds of more games than the other side and still lose their planet if in the lowest population TZ their opponents can win like 17 (or so) more games than them in those final hours. It might make those final hours better, but it makes there first 10 2/3 days worse....much worse...as In nearly pointless to fight.

I get that you want to keep folks playing, but after how the tug-of-war failed at Luthien (Clans won 530 more invasion games, but only finished +77...due to the end of the tug of war bar negating any advantage to most of those wins) you aren't going to get the same level of dedication from units over multiple days again....under the current system. So, while the last few hours might be better for participation the first 10 2/3 days will be worse....so you lose activity, not gain it.

An 11 day event where every day matters is probably the best solution. Stagger individual rewards based on levels of victory/defeat to make winning each day matter to both sides.

Whatever system you use PGI...don't make it all last timezone dependent (even though it seems fun to add more drama)...that is a recipe for 2/3 of your player base to feel they were made irrelevant...which means a lot of active (in FW) unhappy players...many of whom spend money because of FW. I know you guys can't want to alienate that many players.

I get the concern...they would have to make each day's rewards (win or lose) worth still getting for individuals. As is though 5 straight wins would eliminate a hundred win advantage and result in a tie. A 16 win advantage would flip the slider completely...making the see-saw that easy to tip makes the first 10 days nearly irrelevant to the conflict. PGI needs to find a way to keep players engaged throughout the conflict without making the first 10 days irrelevant
