Back when I bought the gt 1030 It was $65, now there are two version, the gddr5 version which is the one I got for $65, and the ddr4 version which is WAY overpriced at 100$... also at the time it was the best option I had.

Also, at the time I know this may sound dumb, but I could not upgrade the case at all.

NVIDIA RTX 2080 TI is the new king. I am sad that my 1080 Ti is not going to be the card of choice for much longer, but it still runs MWO just fine.

I run an NVidea GT 545 3mb which is stable and runs around 65 - 95 fps across most maps if I keep to "Low" with a couple of customisations in setup (your own preference here, but I avoid post processing - anything that adds huge amounts of pointless graphic display).

What you will need to be aware of in trying to use one of the GTX 700 or higher series, is that your bios might not recognise the card. Rule of thumbs is that if you can swap bios settings on the fly or have a dual format bios, there is a reasonable chance a more modern card will work. Check to see if you can update your bios to a version at least around 3 years or less old, as this may allow your system to recognise a decent card.

If it is an old bios + motherboard, then you are most likely going to be stuck around a GT 610/650 kind of range depending on where the gpu was manufactured. Ideally, see if a friend is willing to let you try an older card if they have upgraded, although expect to see a black screen.

If you're looking to apply a dedicated GPU, into that kinda rig -- DO get hold of a heftier PSU along with it
Look at AMD RX560 and nVIDIA 1050Ti, as best bets for low profile* GPU builds (* takes up 2 slots).

This is why I was originally recommending a 1050Ti so the power consideration is mitigated, however, I think it might still be hard to find alot of single slotters which was part of the original req of the OP...
