I sold my duplicate mechs, and kept like.. six? of them, and I have six? very different, very good builds for it.
Theres at-least 8 viable builds for the chassis that i can think of and you can use and still be competitive.
Honestly, even though the mechs are battle mechs, they are so flexible that you can find any number of builds that you might like.

As far as LRMS go; Unless your running Art and lots of ammo, it really isnt worth it.
Theres just too much of an ammo sink.

in lower tiers the fridge is great fun

in tier 1 I can almost hear the tier 1 folks laughing and saying shoot the legs

also they nerfed the Ice Ferret back in August

The Ferret is just awful. Its got the same amount of spare tonnage as an ACH, roughly the same amount of speed/maneveurability, but is 15 tons heavier. With tonnage being a limiting factor in FP, you would almost always be better off with the ACH.

To be fair, the Fridge has way more health (in terms of both base HP and quirks) and more heatsinks by default (Cheeto has only 9 TruDubs, Ferret has 10 TruDubs and 2 hardlocked DHS). With those hardlocked Dubs in your engine counted, that brings the pod space difference to 8 vs. 11 tons (let's face it, you'll always need them anyways). Lastly, the Fridge has a few (admittedly paltry) weapon quirks in there (well, the -10% energy heat on weaponless CT's is nice...).

I'm not trying to say that the Fridge is the bee's knees, because it certainly isn't. But if we're making a 1:1 comparison between the two robots, I think that most of the forum over-exaggerates that Cheetah's prowess.

It's the size differential and the relative annoyance factor of the Cheetah. I see more Arctic Cheetahs acting as legitimate threats than I do Ice Ferrets. Both because I see Cheetahs more often, and because as far as Clan Mechs go, a running refridgerator is pretty meh.

bought the stealth ferret, put 5hmls on it, and its a fun little metal melter. it does run a little hot but if you use it in a hit and run role it works out pretty good. sneak in, fire your 50 point alpha and sneak off somewhere, when you cool off do it again. it holds up pretty well.

To be fair I didn't see an omnimech selection, I may just be blind.

The Ice Ferret is a decent little mech, fun to use, just not very much variety in what you can practically do with it. Being over-engined doesn't help it any.

As for ATMs, they're pretty flexible, not top of the line weapons, but reasonably effective.
