So much for IS vs IS Faction events.... A two day span for an event is a joke. Yeah, sure I can get 6 matches in a day easily and get the rewards easily. But I wouldn't be doing it for rewards, I'd just be happy to have matches against an opponent who is on equal footing instead of this farce PGI calls balance

Feel like the kid who gets a broken Xbox for christmas...

Allthough he maybe screwed up the event, I like how Matt is handling everything.
And I especially like that he showed up in the forum to take care of everything.

wow our unit joined the -40% wolf because it had the nice holo globe as reward and 6 instead of 3, which sounded like the right compensation for less bucks per game

now every other faction gets the holo globe, except wolves, and ghost bear gets the double treat.

well at least we can change contract again in half a week to another faction who has that holo globe.

at least a good compromise, i think this could have been solved better technically... and you might have new todos for the fp system.

Long term could a new layer be added for events only where the team or individual chooses a side for the duration of the event. As an example a wolf vs bear event would allow every player/team to choose a side in the event selection and participate in the event. This way even a single faction event like a rebel uprising can be an event. While the event is going on the main FW battle is suspended making the largest pool of pilots available for the queue. The event which every pilot can participate in replaces FW for the duration.

As an IS loyalist unit member who has more than a few clan mechs an event layer like this would allow my unit to use clan mechs in FW even if only for a short time before resuming our normal role. Merc units would not have to change contracts to get the side they want.

Contracts need to be reset every time the map resets.

Pro's
Scheduled so unit leaders have no excuses
Cleans out inactive accounts. Contract system not skewwed by people not playing.
Gives loyalist options without harsh penalties.


It has been ~557 days, 3 map resets, and the introduction of buckit warfare since the last contract reset.
The faction play i signed up to be loyalist for doesn't exist. Yet, the penalties remain.

Get rid of the whole system and let people who got certain amount of points/wins/games or whatever freely pick what they want from the items.

WOW.

Just.. WOW.

This is BY FAR the stupidest event you guys have ever put on.

1) Did you really think it was gonna work having FP and QP challenges at the same time? Yeah.. look at you player base.. Now back to me.. now back at your player base.. now back to me.. Sadly, YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ACTIVE PLAYERS!

2) You cut up the event into mini-events because you screwed up.. and make it so that I, a wolf, can't drop together with my friends, fiancee, or anyone else who's NOT a wolf.. because.. why? Again.. NOT COOL. I mean, sure, I can drop.. it just doesn't count for the Wolf Vs. Shark.. STUPID.

3) You can't get the loot bags in the game's event manager.. so.. then.. what is it supposed to do? Lame.

4) This is like the third event in a row where you guys are like "oh sorry, we screwed something up here, but it will be fixed/compensated - How about YOU DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AROUND?!

5) So great.. I'm a wolf.. and because you guys absolutely demolished Clan Wolf FP cbill payouts, NOBODY else is Wolf. Or anything BUT the new clans. The old Loyalists are sparse and few. If you played your game, you would know that. So as a Wolf, I have but one option to finish this event.. Play it with pugs. Or not at all, cose' getting a 12-man together is nigh-impossible. And then you pit us against the freshest, highest paying clan that can field 12-mans galore.. Great job you numnucks. And I'm sure most smaller factions loyalists feel the same..

Sadly, this event is one of the most frustrating ones when it comes to FP..

The loot bags are fun, I admit..

But these interfaction warfare was done terribly!

Suggestion: Make 150 loot bags obtainable through QP. So those people that want to avoid the FP due to "fix" or event requirements can still get a mech.

I would still love to see an event with the 2 team system implemented in the future at a time when there are no quickplay events to compete with it.

I did 6 games against Marik on the first day because they were needed to get the 50 and I had time. Now I'm allowed to try 6 games with 100ms during my working hours, because the old ones do not count anymore.

I suggested to lower 150 to 100 instead because of TIME since life is not only gaming 4 hours a day, but your suggestion is another option. I really hope they make it accessible to people only playing QP.

I busted my butt to get my 50 FP matches in during the first two days of the event. The wait times were long and there were some ghost drops during off-hours, but I *really* wanted the warhorn so pushed through the grind. I'm leaving town tonight and won't have access to MWO until after the event ends, so it was important to me to get my games in before I left.

I logged in this morning to claim my rewards and sort a few things in the Mechbay before heading to the airport. It appears that the in-game events tab was changed and I can no longer claim the rewards for this event that I earned. I read here that the event criteria have been changed and it is being made easier to win the faction-specific rewards ... that's great. Except that I won't be able to play during the window assigned to my faction, which is why I made time Thursday and Friday to get my games in ahead of time.

PGI, can you please grant players rewards that were earned but which were not claimed at the time of the event switchover?

They are trying to set up an auto-redeem for those cases. But the auto-redeem will not happen before monday.

Backing up Rhialto and OMCBOONE on this, as I initially suggested many pages ago. Hell, you could even give us a 200 match requirement, and seeing as it would be QP, that'd still be easily doable. The main point is keep FP/CW stuff separate from QP stuff, don't make one event that's half and half- different people will want to play each mode. I used to play a lot of CW when it dropped, back when I was in AW, a unit that actually organized and put time into CW. After many of us got tired of it being such crap, I and others stopped bothering with CW/FP and never looked back. I don't even keep 4 mechs equipped at a time anymore to be able to make a drop deck, I don't want to feel like I have to just to fully enjoy a holiday loot bag event.

A lot of events over the past few months have seemed to be focused on FP/CW, and that's fine for the folks that enjoy it, but it's not causing players like myself who despise the mode to want to come back and play, it just produces a response of: "Oh, well, guess I'll play something else this weekend." For the holiday grab bag events, keep things simple and fun, that's what's going to keep the player count from dropping further and even bring some of us old-heads back. I came back anyway, but my views on CW/FP haven't changed a lick, and I'm just ignoring that part of the event, but it's a shame since now I have no chance at a mech.

The whole thing just seems poorly thought out and even more poorly executed. Without some extremely drastic changes to the entire system from the ground up, CW/FP is never, ever going to be a popular part of this game, and these kinds of events being shoehorned in like this only serve to further damage PGI/MWO's reputation and the already terrible reputation of CW/FP as a game mode.

All that said, props once again to Matt for proving as usual that he's the one reliable PGI employee when it comes to treating their customers right. I'm sure he's not popular around the office, but it's not his fault he's actually cordial and respectful to players and seems like a genuinely nice guy.
