people who use mics are the worst, 99% of the time is just some dude raging at his desk instead of calling shots, its not worth the pain. raging on forums about his bad performance is also pretty funny and sad. Remember, play with the team, you cant rambo yourself and expect everyone to follow you to die with you.

That he expects every player speaks/knows english is the especially amusing part.

I find most teams to be cowards until they get that 1-2 kill mech advantage then all of a sudden one of them grows balls and the other just follow the rambo's lead. I blame it on pgi's power creeping the clan alpha to such that one alpha cores any medium or light in an instant. Alpha and bravo lances just can't take the hit so they don't want to be the one to make first contact with the enemy. 70 alpha? Maybe an assault that is got all front loaded 110 armor can laugh it off.

OP,

Sounds very familiar. I think I was the Nova pilot that followed you. I don't normally pay attention to pilot names in match, but I had the exact same thing happen on Grim last night. I followed the assault who said "go left", even though rest of team went right. Told you on comms I was "with you, but I'm in a Nova, and it's just us 2, so we're screwed".

We met the core of the enemy team head on, just the two of us. I knew we were going to get pasted, oh well, managed a few hits, tried to take a few of them off of you to give you a few more seconds, hit override, and went out in a blaze of glory.

That's pug's. And the OP wasn't wailing or abusive on comms, either before or after death. But I had my music cranked, and well into my second double brandy by that time.

5 matches today.

No, I don't want to buy a Mech Pack.

Carry any more potatoes and you could claim either Irish heritage or Idaho residency.

You just have to learn to enjoy getting the kills I guess.

...and the VOIP/text chat rage-hards are why people turn of VOIP and chat.

I turn on VOIP if I decide to play in FW because it's a good idea to have it enabled

I turn off VOIP when I play in QP, because there's no point in listening to "manly men" rage like children due to their inability to handle the chaos of pug queue.

Sounds like the OP wants to play MechCommander instead of MWO.

This thread reminds me of one time we had an Atlas on our team that, instead of taking up a firing position and calling for a push just ran straight into the enemy murderball all by himself and then spent the rest of the match bitching about how bad we all sucked as we proceeded to waste the entire enemy team 12-1.

these people have all their lives to be cowards, why bring that crap into a fantasy world where death doesn't matter anymore? this is why i play aggressive most of the time. in the real world i cant even leave the house without a fist full of pills. but when i get in my squirrel mech expect to find me in your craw. poking your innards with my luminous probe.

sometimes i do have to scale back the aggression to a degree, just because the team is non-compliant. usually do a lot of hit and run, reposition and repeat kind of fighting. this way the enemy will opt for the easier targets in the back. if i can get those useleess meat shileds to fire a couple shots at the enemy, i can move in for that finishing blow they will never be alive long enough to land. if you find you are consistently the first one into battle, perhaps you need to adopt tactics to make that more profitable in lieu of a bunch of spuds holding you back.

I would say it is experience not cowardice, but it is definitely a lttle of both, people do play this game cowardly very often, as though their actual life is inside that mech, and pretending like in a good game most players won't die.. Then yelliing "GG!" at the end of every 12-0 in their favor, because that is the only victory they really desire, so yeah, cowardice is at the core of that.

But you can't discount experience, because although you might not have been joking or trolling or giving disinformation, so many others do, like so many that will yell things that will get you straight up destroyed if you listen to it, but boost their score a little. So its a hard one, thats for sure.

Like the old "call for help, but then literally abandon whoever shows up to help", or the one guy that is calling others cowards and telling them to push, is actually the guy at the back of the pack, who would NEVER be the first in a push, he yells at others to distract from that fact.

Yup, I bet most of the team didn't even hear the instructions since voip disable is kind of a given outside of unit play. I certainly don't use it...on the occasions that I have my headset on it's because I'm on my Eve/SC/Warships/etc. clan's TS channel.

Besides, if they were manly and brave but took some losses one of the dead ones would probably turn out to be one of the aforementioned tryhards who proceeds to spend the rest of the match raging about how those bleeping noobs let them get killed.

I always assumed it was a three factor system;

- No way to regenerate lost armor/health.
- No respawns in most gamemodes; Even in CW, they are drastically limited.
- Large amounts of noticeable negative feedback. 'Incoming missile', 'Heat level Critical', 'X limb destroyed', 'Critical Damage', etc.

I dunno he has a point. If you have voip why the hell do you even have an icon by your name. Turn the damn thing off.

The ironic thing was we pushed and pushed for it, now we have it no one uses it
