True enough.

It's no quad after all!

I'll give credit where it's due, Juodas. You're consistent.

This is true but that could be said for alot of things discussed on this forum.

My myself I put the constant Clan vs IS balance whining in that category especially when the major problem this game has is lack of content in terms of maps, game mode enhancement, population issues, etc. However, there are 99 Clan vs IS balance discussions ongoing daily it seems.

O.k I have to admit if P.G.I did this miracle it would really make my interest in the game fire up big time, and get me spending.

Yes it's a stupid reason, but I don't care.

Honestly I think my wallet is safe from spending out on a P.G.I product for a very long time, if at all, but I can dream.

I agree but it's one thing they are capable of getting right if they chose to do it, the rest is well somwhat hit and miss, and the game needs this sort of crap done, to cover up the cracks in the dull game play and terrible balance.

Yes please.

I hate the battlemaster but it would be nice to see them look this good, you have my vote to make it so.

Someone did a mock up of simply replacing the current squared glass with a bubble example. I thought it looked sharp.

For all the Battlemaster is supposed to be... it isnt. The cockpit glass would be a start. The position of the weapon mounts on the arms would be another.

Regarding the Dragon.. could the high mounted fixed arm simply locked with the torso while the other be independent? That is something we currently dont have at the moment (either both arms are independent or both arms are locked with torso for lateral movement).

Only thing wrong with the Thunderbolt is the wimpy Right-arm Laser Mount.

oh there is plenty more wrong with it, though compared to the Wolverine it's a peach.

Content like what? New mechs? The people who model mechs are not the people who make maps or game features. The only resources pulled by remodeling mechs are the resources that would have been used to model new mechs.

(pssst, y'all should go upboat my reddit post, it's at like 52-to-6 votes, lel. Maybe tweet it at russ if you care enough.)

Is Russ even reading community tweets anymore?

Cahm aaaahn,

The Wolverine's pretty good.
Apart from the fact that the round chin turret is not the default geometry.

it's a fricking Brick. It makes the Banshee look curvy and interesting. It's one of the top 5 worst mech designs in this game.

Since the good ol' FU was given to those entities who put their panties on backwards (with the introduction of the Marauder, Warhammer, etc), I think it is safe to give the Battlemaster a rounded canopy.

What? Did PGI win the court case against Harmony Gold or something? If so, where can I find more details?

Remodeling ? Use the Nightstar torso for the Marauder, that's an proper Marauder-torso! But fix the lack of Kneecaps in the Victor first!.

Actually, I cant fully comment on the matter. I know PGI waited a long time to release certain mechs (the "unseen") because of the "who has the rights to what" purse fight. There is a reason in MWO the geometry of the Warhammer, Battlemaster, Marauder, and other mechs are what they are and not more closely related to the original Battletech design.

If you do a search there are some older threads with loads of info. My thought is that somehow PGI either got the gusto to tell HG to go fly a kite, to a point, and then released their own version of the mechs in question.

Ultimately, I think most of the mechs are close enough to the original to not miss much sleep over... except the Battlemaster. it NEEDS a rounded cockpit canopy. :)

Both cockpits look fine to me. And i love the missile launcher. I think he (and a lot of other mechs) need the rifle from the concept art. Like the incubus has. I hate all these lasers strapped to the outside of the wrists. Just put a gun in his hand. On the subject of 5 yr olds and college students doing it for free.. Im a 3d modeller who does mechs and i would do some bolt on options for free no worries

But yes.. gauss charge is and was dumb. Just double the cooldown if you want to get rid of the spam.

This guy has made the model as in the concept art though. Looks better in my opinion

Oh.. and I simply cant buy a Dragon with the fugly right arm either. Please fix that travesty. I'm sure there is a freshmen in some college somewhere who needs a graphics modeling project that will do it for free. Heck, give a 5yo and a crayon and they'll come up with something better than what we currently have. I swallowed hard and finally was able to stomach the Centurion, but the Dragon is pure and simple fugly, as in coyote fugly. Please fix it. Thank you.

as you were.

Know what's funny?

Posted Image
They knew better.

But...
Posted Image
They did it anyway.

There's a typo in the TRO (in something, but clearly not the TROs) that gives it a lower arm actuator in the right arm and doesn't give it a hand in the left. (Record sheet 3025/26 and volume 3, which copy/pastes).
The art does the opposite.
In MWO, for a long time, we got screwed out of a slot because we got both the lower right arm actuator and the left hand actuator.
Now, its lost the hand actuator...but what was the point in that? It HAS a hand, and it doesn't have the quirk vestigial hand. Dragons actively pick up, drop, and punch things pretty often in lore, so.... the error is in the TRO not the original art.

Further note:
Record sheet 3025/26 and Volume 3 both provide the screw up, and both Dragon and Grand Dragon are shown as identical.

Record Sheet 3050, made later, fixed it....and botched it again. Both Dragon and Grand Dragon got the hand actuator added for the left hand. Standard Dragon also got a left hand...along with the lower arm actuator, but it is worth noting that this is the 5N...which is the "bridge" between the two, where it makes sense that it got a lower arm actuator as noted in my followup.

3025..
Dragon (mistake)
Grand Dragon (Mistake)
3050
Dragon (corrected, "Bridge variant" 5N)
Grand Dragon (Correct)
