Ooooooooh, will people will run incursion like a game mode and make collecting power cells worth while? Will escort will get picked by more then x12 mult trolls? Or will the rewards be so tiny to not matter?

Kill 'em all or kill 'em all and one tap base. Doesn't change the fact that those are the quicker victory conditions and a slight increase in C-Bills aren't going to bait us into playing objective, sadly.

There are times when I realize just how stale things have gotten that I wish I had nukes on hand. In that way I could just quickly end a drop by killing everyone and immediately do something else. <maniacal Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image>

You can't fix gameplay design issues with reward systems since these are separate systems that don't interact with each other during matches.

Gameplay has to be fixed with alterations to gameplay, if a gamemode isn't played the way it's supposed to it's because you've failed to make the preferred way of playing a good strategy to win the match.

Rewards should match the gamemode too of course, it should never be more profitable to ignore the objectives than going for them, but fixing this only aligns incentives better, it doesn't actually improve bad game mode design.

This is something PGI doesnt seem to understand...


IF you want us to play the objective it must be 1. Worth the same or more money and 2. be as fun or more fun (preferably to get people to do it) then killing mechs.

Unless it provides alot more c-bills or what not, the modes will still be Skirmish only

We are so lost........
And, matters not because the niche spending is the benchmark and it must be doing pretty good because nothing is changing....
If it weren't, we'd be seeing PGI sampling the gamplay and forums and making changes to affect the profit margin.

The objectives would have to pay about 800% more than they do now to make players want to do them. I posted a screen shot of escort's pay out if all you do is walk the bot to the extraction and nothing else. Total pay for it is only 35,000 and a single c-bill uav or strike is 40,000. You can literately make more c-bills uav farming.

Escort does need better rewards but it won’t affect how a match plays out as there isn’t anything else to do in the match besides fight the enemy and kill the VIP.

Incursion however might see more varied gameplay if the incentives to destroy the base are considerable. Matches tend to be more fun when the objectives actually come into play and I hope this will make the bases come into play more than they currently do. The mode could certainly use some other changes but at least we got something to start with.

As often as Incursion turns into 'skirmish + damage base" it also turns into "mutual base-rush" and becomes a race to see which team can destroy the base the fastest. This type of match usually ends with zero or near-zero kills/damage on either side. It's getting to where if I haven't already gotten a 'time-out' or two I'll disco rather than waste my time, especially if I'm in a slow assault that's basically left mid-map with nothing at all to do before the match ends except plod slowly towards the enemy base totally unopposed while my team destroys it long before I could possibly get in range, and therefor means no kills, damage, cbills or xp to earn. I didn't click on "Quick Play" to become nothing more than a decorative item to add battlefield "ambience".

Last night I had three straight Domination matches in a row where I in an assault and one light (it was a medium with me in one match) were the only ones on my team that entered the Dom circle, and of course, we were quickly killed and the clock timed out for a loss because nobody on our side would step into the circle, they all hid and poked at the enemy from outside the circle while the clock ticked down. All this in supposedly T3 matches.

Can’t recall ever seeing a mutual base rush in Incursion. In Assault, yes but not in Incursion. Not saying it doesn’t happen but in my experience it almost always turns into Skirmish with an occasional base attack by a few stragglers later in the match. The mode needs help for sure.

The team that base rushes in Incursion usually gets surrounded and crushed as the defenders return, because they can't kill the base fast enough.

That's probably true more often than not in higher-Tier QP battles, but down here where I play it happens fairly often that the teams end up at each other's base in a rush to destroy it first. It's usually down to whose team has the most people damaging the enemy base and not trying to rush back more than halfway across the map to attempt a defense or simply off chasing some random enemy lt/med 'mech in a corner somewhere.

It's gotten even worse since sometime around the start of this season with horribad play and in-game actions/behaviors. Players being extremely passive and even whole teams hiding has become rampant in QP lately for some reason. Never understood hiding as it simply guarantees a loss and being overwhelmed & destroyed in a hail of enemy fire.

I'm sure you've tried it but, in case you haven't, just take charge during the match. If nobody did that in my games, then we'd have the same problem. However, most of the time somebody calls the shots to RTB (and if nobody else does, I do) and deal with the threat. The only time it should turn into a base race is if the map is so large and you are too far to RTB in time to stop its destruction.
