the ECM/Dual-Gauss Thanny will pretty much be the hot map meta and replace the warhammer-6R in that capacity, for people that like dual gauss on hot maps*
Outside of that maybe the an ER-LL Sniper with ECM will be effective
When we troll everybody on Polar Highlands and Boreal Vaul with LRM boats, that will also work out.
Otherwise I'd say it's pretty much underwhelming.

But you're putting IS Gauss in a mech with big side torso hitboxes and no armor quirks...

it might work very good. OR take one of the variants with energy in the side torso, add stealth armor and pepsis and BAM!

I doubt this is that good.
In a 1v1 situation, no. It's trash.
In FP with 11 other people supporting you + ECM, it works out well. The 6R is patently better if you get isolated, but the ECM alone makes up for the fact that the 6R is more durable*, and you can peek and poke much, much better than the 6R can.
holy **** phoneposting sucks

I'll try it out eventually but other mechs are more appealing at the moment.

Now I see the size of it and the giant side torso hitboxes and can't even imagine getting it for cBills.

Yeah.
I mean, that sentence as a whole is pretty weak as far as being objective goes.
It's going to need LFEs to do anything which means there goes a chunk of firepower. So yeah, outside of some casual play it's going to be bad, as anyone who has been paying attention knew before it was even introduced. I'll still mess around with mine in QP (I was gifted em, so might as well use em) and maybe I'll be surprised and it oddball clicks, but I doubt it.
Shame though... it's a grand looking robot. But it is what it is. Probably won't be long before I'm back on my Clan account playing Nova Cats, though.

I figured it was going to be bad, but its hard for me to not buy heavies and assaults. I'll try to make something work.
Since I'm so masochistic I might try running a dual gauss ER PPC build with an XL280.

Might as well. If it has no armor buffs, those STs are going to pop fast regardless, so STDs and LFEs might not delay the inevitable enough to be worth worrying about, TBH. I want to like it, but I don't plan on holding my breath. Maybe 2x H-PPC and up engine/JJ it and see if it can survive as a minimalist Poptart? *shrugs*

Sums up my feelings.
And yeah, definitely going to give the HPPC poptart a try.
Probably won't get to try it until next week because of work and travel though.
This would have been cool, but we can't have nice things.

I only played mine for one match so far which isn't definitive proof of how good or bad the mech us but I was taking quite a bit of fire from multiple sources and ultimately died (thanks to the match being a near stomp) but the mech surprisingly didn't fall apart on me like I thought it would. My initial impression is that the side torsos aren't as much a liability as I thought they would be.
I also managed to output a fair amount of damage despite the match being a near stomp so the firepower levels seems ok.
So for a first impression and playing on a new map that my team got stomped on, while it wasn't a mech I would rate top tier, it was surprisingly decent and fun to play.
Again this is the absolutely first impression on the first match so take it with a grain of salt.
