I was referring to the AC5, 2xALRM5, 2xERML build.

At any rate, I think you'd be better off with a 300XL. A little torso twisting and it won't be that big a vulnerability, especially with the left arm being disposable. (The 300XL is a very versatile engine, works well in Jenners, Assassins, Centurion D/YLW, some of the Enforcers, any of the jumping 55 ton mechs, Catapults... and probably a few others.)

Maybe the hitboxes suit an XL? As I play brawling, bad ST XL builds don't go down well with me.

I found building this mech out to be alot harder than I expected. I ended up with 2 x LL, 2 x SRM4 and 4 x LMGs and it seems pretty decent. I am also a bit surprised by the agility. I didn't own a Griffin prior so was expecting it to feel very agile but it feels very unresponsive and sluggish like it is moving a hell of alot slower than the 82kph I am supposed to be going.

Terriscareds complained about the brawler griffins killing their LRM mechs and being too hard to hit with their backup small laser, so PGI nerfed their agility and offensive quirks Posted Image

The mech is junk. I just finished my ninety-first node. I am placing it in mothballs. Believe it or not I actually prefer the loyalty Wolverine. Something I thought was impossible.

Every time I field it, it nudges me to the idea that its one "quirk" is MRM poking with the hardpoint behing higher than the cockpit. Otherwise it's too big for a medium to do anything really exciting, definitely not brawling.

5M is a horrible mech
Not enough laser and/or missile mounts
Too many ballistics all in the arm of a medium mech.

If I was going to go have some fun, I'd try a pop tart can opener / crit seeker.

MRM50 and LMGs is an ok brawler I think if you're good at sword & board.

Asym build rocks on this chassis. It has one of the best arm shields in the game, on the left side, which is perfect.
I use an MRM40 (3 tons ammo) and 4 regular machine guns (1.5 tons ammo) with fully increased missile ammo capacity skills.
I use AMS with a half ton ammo, 3 jump jets and an XL340 that goes 107 kph after skills.

Its pretty XL safe if you know how to arm shield and mind your positioning. You need a couple twist rate skills and full survivability skills though. And you need to put armor into the left arm rather than strip it. (I also put more armor in the leg that's on the shield side.)

At 107 KPH with excellent jump capabilities it gets nice angles of attack. You just have to discipline yourself to not over-extend. It's also heat neutral, which is very nice.

Anyway, after tying many sub-par builds, this is how I fly mine.

Urrr.... What? Have you seen how most people outfit Griffins? XL Brawlers, that's how. The hitboxes are just fine.

After trying various things, I settled on two snubs and two SRM four launchers. 275 light engine so I can lose a torso and still have something left.
Mgs require too much facetime.
