15 x 250 MP in FP... ??

Thanks, but... Thanks, NO! Big NO...

... That's too much playtime for my skill-level.. it's least 8 hours of hard gameplay...

If I ever want those Mechs, I will play SoloQ and just buy them for CB... (And.. probably don't even need to play the 8 hours for it..)

Why is it that players seem to expect things should be "obtainable" ... ???

Remember the days when you got what you earned?

There will be no fun for lower tier players in this event. The way the formula for match score is so horribly skewed and reduced they will just get frustrated because there is no way that most of the lower tier players can succeed in achieving that much match score. It won't be fun for them - just frustrating. And that makes it no fun. No fun = no play. Way to go PGI. You just created an event that only higher tier players will be present in. The rest won't bother because it won't be worth their time and effort.

You need to rethink the way you treat your customers. Keep this up and you will only see your business dwindle because players you frustrate most certainly will not be motivated to spend their hard earned income when they have no chance of deriving any fun or entertainment from it.

Good Luck,

You don't get stuff because you didn't earn it?
Hm...

Good Luck,

You do have a point. If I am correct, the match maker puts all tiers into one pool in faction warfare. This will force you to become a better player faster. The other option is start making friends and form groups to increase your chances of winning and make your MWO experience more fun.

Some would argue that based on the warning every player sees when first dropping in faction play that this may be a desired effect. Granted it would make more sense if:

1) there was a larger player pool
2) they offered concurrent events geared toward different tiers where the challenge/reward is contingent upon your tier (i.e. the better you are the better the reward you can earn, but at a higher skill requirement) that allowed lower skill players to "opt out" of FP w/o feeling like they are missing anything. The people that are screwed would be the ones at a high tier that don't really know how to play at a high tier...

This is where some challenges may not be for some people. Sometimes the joy is in the accomplishment of the challenge, to be able to do something that isn't a slam dunk for every player.

I never said you shouldn't have to earn it. However as Lord Fatman put it:

It should just be set up so that it is fun and worth the time and effort required to do so. I believe all or at least most lower tier players are trying to do their best to succeed. It is not their fault that they haven't reached Tier 1. Some take longer than others and some only go so far because they just want to play for fun.

I understand what you are saying, but it can be equally argued that you will be prevented from becoming a better player because you are all too frequently being slammed and cut down before you can develop better playing skills.

You forgot the Luthien event already? On top of the IS and Clan Event rewards, there were 2 other events specific to Draconis Combine and Smoke Jaguar factions.

I was hoping to get in some Steiner specific rewards (about 3 days to do so), then be in time to switch over to the Jade Falcon, so that I could redeem every possible reward.

Only loyalists will get those cockpit, pattern and color as the rewards.

Yes that is true. But the majority usually have a long way to go before they reach this level. Some may never reach it but still just want to have fun. In all honesty if this is the place where a player is at they might find that joy in the "Competitive Play" side (forgive me if I have not put it's name correctly). The rest don't find fun in just being "cannon fodder".

Not saying you are wrong, only that there are some of us that may not have a problem with their being a single challenge out of all of the challenges that is, well challenging. I get that some people only want the fun. For some people the fun is a challenge.

This is like asking rock climbers why they don't just take a nice relaxing hike... Or asking assault players to go ez mode in urbies...

Sometimes its gratifying because it *is* a grind that you accomplished.

I distinctly remember when I started this game and couldn't finish many of the challenges they put out. It motivated me to be a better player, a better team player when necessary.

Any selfrespecting House Steiner loyalist has all or at least most of the rewards from the challenge. I'm not complaining but... yeah, been there, got that. Nice swag anyway.

The Main Prizes require 15 Matches of 250 Minimum Match score.
That was on purpose and will not be changed.
Want to entice players to compete in the Main Conflict and not just farm Scouting.
Although it could still be possible with Scouting only.
Given that in main conflict the match score is divided by the number of mechs used, this might just discourage them from trying.
Entice an unprepared average player to compete in the main conflict, and you'll see 4 mechs dead with a sub-1K total damage score.

What does been in tier 1 have to do with FW?

Some people think "Tier 1 = Skill" In truth there are lots of players that are good that are *not* tier one and there are lots of players that achieved the tier by simply not sucking too badly over a long period of time. True, there are lots of quality players at tier 1, perhaps more than any other tier, but it is not a true indicator in and of itself...

If you want to have fun, go have fun. Nobody HAS to chase the event. When I started playing last year, I salivated at the rewards offered for one of the FW (CW?) events (I think it was that one with the Zeus), but I wasn't in a unit, knew nothing about FW, and owned a grand total of three mechs, all of them stock, two of which were good for TT but simply awful for MWO. The event simply wasn't for me at that time, so I let it go and stayed in QP where at least I was having fun. Later, I got into a unit, learned enough about FW to be able to meaningfully contribute, and developed a stable of mechs that I like to use in FW. Now I seldom miss an event reward for which I was eligible to attempt.

I think I would've quit right then had I attempted to grind out that event's rewards. Sure, I regret not having one of those free mechs from way back then, but not as much as if I'd tried, burned out, and quit.

I'll get more 250 match scores in scouting than I will in siege, if I judge by past events.

Since I already have a skilled DDC, I'm not going to sweat it much. I'll be ok with just MC and cbills.

James Argent said exactly what I was going to say.
Rewards for playing are great, but that's not why you should play. Being paid to participate is called WORK where I live. I play MWO for fun, to get away from the horrible real world in which we live. I like getting a few extras now and again, but I am not going to stress myself to get them. When the game becomes WORK, I quit.
So play, have fun. got blowed up? No big deal, get up on the next match learn from your previous game, ask for advice. Ignore that dude screaming at the team because he's dead and everyone else isn't. I sucked when I first started. I learned. I got better. If I got better, anyone can.
So keep playing. Don't quit. Soon you'll have more cockpit items, colors, camo and free mechs than you'll know what to do with.
Good Luck, Have Fun

why not just make it so scouting don't count towards the mech prize in stead of making it so hard the lower tear players get mad and quit trying then every one would have to do Main Conflict to get mech

Why not make all the challenges unchallenging so there is nothing to encourage grow and introspection?

c'mon, its ONE challenge out of several that is... challenging. There are lots of other participation trophies to collect.
