There is a bit more to Light Gauss than that.
You have a superior rate of fire, higher velocity round and a much shorter charge up time. Personally I find Light Gauss miles easier to use and be accurate with, including snap shooting because you only have to hold the button for the briefest of time before you can actually fire the right as opposed to the standard Gauss which seems to take forever to charge up and be ready to fire. Also just for comparison Smurfy's lists the light Gauss at 2.46 DPS while the standard Gauss is only 0.15 DPS higher at 2.61 DPS so over the course of a match, your damage numbers should pretty much equal out.
Where a normal Gauss is superior is in raw damage per shot. 30 points of pin point damage is no joke with the Dual Guass while the 16 points you would get out of Dual Light Gauss is a bit lackluster to say the least at least when your talking single hit finishing power.
So what your really comparing with Gauss vs Light Gauss is raw smashing power vs ease of use and DPS. Dual Gauss provides crushing hits but your going to find that it is much easier to engage and hit with a Light Gauss which in turn means being able to achieve more hits on the enemy overall. I say half dozen one, six the other.
