LRM boating is kinda like playing medic in TF2. Your team needs to be helping you out to be able to play effectively (they usually won't), you can turn a match around very quickly if you do well (and are dead weight if you're doing poorly), and no matter how the match goes, everyone blames you for anything that went wrong (which is everything).

That said, squeezing an LRM-5 and a half ton of ammo onto a build is a fun way of annoying the other team too, if only because I know that when a lot of people hear that incoming missile alarm they'll immediately scramble for cover. It's funny watching a King Crab suddenly back up into their team and stall a push because they're scared of what basically amounts to a mosquito bite.

Just some more LRM eye candy / showoff scores... No, ti wasn't Polar.. it was QP Frozen.. my signature LRM80 Supernova.. I killed the last 3..

I was last alive with another Assassin.. the last man standing on their team was also a LRM boat MadCat II, with also over 1000+ damage and 2 kills..

Wonder what excuse the haters will have now..

This one time in band camp.....

One off situations are not relevant to anything.

The top damage in that match was a Kit Fox. Since we're pretending a cherry picked screenshot is representative I look forward to the dominant comp Kit Fox meta clearly coming.

I would say trashtalking your own team out of the gate isn't helpful.

However the usefulness of LRMs has already been settled. Solaris being it forward as well - LRMs only do well when your opponents are terrible and you have people doing the heavy lifting for you.

That's okay though, they fill a QP niche and QP doesn't matter, so do your thing.

I like LRM pilots, since we don't have computer AI to beat up on.

@Jay Leon Hart - I hope you learned something that day..

Not every match is amazingly op.. not every match is good.. or bad...

My point was that such great matches are possible.. it's not the weapon or the mech, but the pilot..

The fact that your stats indicate you don't even get an average of one kill per game. In fact, for the last three months, you barely log the equivalent of a kill every other one, at 0.57 kills per game.

That is, you can get a big game, but you clearly lack consistent contribution.

I mean, if you wanna post comparison shots, this is me. In the same Supernova-A, only I decided to boat ATMs.

Posted Image

The game ended 12-1, in part because I obliterated an entire lance in rapid succession with 40+ ATM barrages instead of LRM 80, from the front, meaning that instead of padding my damage score while my team died, the other guys dropped dead before doing so. I'd have had 5 solo kills but someone secured the last one as it ran away, and I ended up finishing off another target instead in a severe case of overkill. We only lost the one Firestarter because he YOLOed directly into the enemy deathball.

And yes, LRM boats are usually the last ones standing- because they're the ones standing in the back, hoping the other guys stay alive long enough to empty their ammo bins and get some kills. I didn't have that luxury much when I was playing, in part because when you're up front, getting your locks at good range and attracting fire, there's that frequent case of getting your armor shot through. But if you want the team to last longer and have a better chance of winning, that's what you have to do.

I'm glad you agree, it's not LRMs that are good. Finally. Well done.

You misunderstood.. My point was that a good pilot can do good like that with any weapon.. be it Gauss, LRMs or lasers..

Therefore, LRMs are not terrybad.. it's the pilot that is bad with LRMs.. not LRMs that are inherently good or bad..

Especially now after they got buffed for velocity..

I did 1k damage in a jenner without consumables. Are you gonna say the jenner isn't a terrible mech? Or is this logic only reserved.for lurms?

Juju just had his 64th ace of spades in an uziel. Does this mean the uziel isn't like, the worst period, mech period, ever period?

Which is what this thread is about, some people have been arguing against and you just agreed to. Twice.

LRMs are not inherently good, despite the OP's claim.

They're also not inherently bad, just inherently not as good as they should be.

I’m sorry but LRM’s are still trash... congrats on a velocity buff. So now they just hit rocks faster, and occasionally if someone is out of position they do spread damage faster.

They're inherently not good enough to be used in comp matches...

Hmmmm I wonder why that is?

They're still well below the median in terms of effectiveness.

What I want to know is how do players find out how many aces of spades they have done?

Juju tracks them manually.and most of the time, records and posts them to boot.
