Reasonable hardpoints, high missiles... not much shielding if you're into that. Not quite what I want to play, I think, but I could change my mind.
Small, small arms, and large side torsos. However, it is "short" in the torso, which helps compensate some on target surface.

However, why buy 3 variants of the same omni? Still don't get the "mech pack" approach. I'd see better value in $10 per omni (with pods locked until c-bill release), $20 for the c-bill variant, and $25 for the hero variant.

Depending on the tonnage, it might be a good ATM-48 boat as well. No locked JJs, moderate engine.

no energy hardpoints except if you shell out for the hero and a lack of tonnage for ballistics isnt reasonable hardpoints IMO. pass.

id be mildly interested in it for ballistics if had a 280 engine but the 350 engine just kills it. theres enough fast clan heavies already. wouldve been nice to have another slow clan heavy with more weapon tonnage and no stupid locked equipment.

At least its Called the Sun Spider and not a Camel Spider!

(Both are names for a Solifugae also known as a Wind Scorpion I am such a nature geek, also not dangerous to humans so is it DOA lol?)

Yeah my wallet is closed for this one. There's already a 'mech in the game for pretty much every conceivable role and I don't feel this brings anything new to the table as far as performance. So that's out. What's left that might motivate me to buy? Nostalgia. This is a PGI original that I have never seen before, so nostalgia is also out the window. There is zero reason for me to not simply wait until CBill release for this thing.

I'm not buying.

If it had been an IS Omni, it would have been worth a buy for the novelty alone. This? This is just another boring 81 kph Clan Heavy sharing the same kind of podspace enjoyed by the TBR but without the ability to boat energy. There is nothing interesting about it. All it has is dashing good looks, but it will be a total snooze to play.

I wouldn't mind so much if the home brew were not so obviously meta mechs.

With everything stuffed around and above the cockpit.

If they were more fluff orientated, then hell i might even have bought this one, but it again is a no

It won't be that meta, it doesn't have enough energy hardpoints. It'll be a competent UAC/2 or double UAC/10 boat and maybe a competent missile boat. Energy? You need the Hero to be worth anything and then it's just a Gauss rifle with 5x cERML and all the heatsinks or a Gauss rifle with one cHLL and four cERML for a bigger punch.

What really bothers me is that they make the IS homebrew with really crappy hardpoints in really crappy places and/or in insufficient quantity...and that this new 'Mech is just a boring Clan Omni.

Where are my IS Omnis?

Why is it so freaking tall? Please, PGI, have the modelers bend it's knees.

At least it fills a spot in Clan 'mechs, there's not much in the 70 ton range they can add, so I guess this makes sense.

Other than the Nova-Cat right? I mean it's not like it has a crap-ton more of pod-space. No, I dare-say this is just a 'what the summoner could be' mech, albeit sans the JJs.

A real pay-to-optimize case to boot. It's most viable build, 2x HLL + 2x ERML + Gauss + ECM will REQUIRE you to purchase the reinforcement AND hero packs.

The rest of its builds are not that interesting. Ground pounding at 81kph and 31 tons of space but too few available hard points and recent awkward weapon mechanic changes ensure this thing does not have a niche.

Was going to comment earlier that the torso looked a bit like the Stalking Spider but it obviously wasn't a quad, but it seems to have had a spider theme after all anyway.

well the summoner doesnt have ES and it has locked JJs. so its a considerable amount more podspace than a summoner. probably like 8-9 tons.

Cool not lore, not really interested. I don't understand, they still have lituraly 100's of mechs to go with that are not in the game yet.

The ECM option of Gausspider seems real here. High arm mounts and tough to target is a pretty nice combination.
