I can understand all the neon, since it's apparently meant to be a Solaris arena, but tbh I was hoping for a much more gritty war-torn city. Still should be a pretty fun map, though. Just not what I was expecting.

I do hope that it's not night constantly though lol

It's not actually one of the arenas, those are in the Solaris battle system preview. This is a full map for 12v12. And it's not war-torn. Yet. However, it can be shot up by you until it matches your expectations!

Is this really the new map? I mean, it can't be right?
I wouldn't put it past pgi but that is bad. It looks like a normal day in Vegas. Are the public still there? Posted Image
It's not exactly a warzone.

its a Citylike Promotion Arena ...not a real City ;) not all this little Deatils or Infrastructures like a real lived City ...is a Arena "Ghosttown"

Looks to me like it will be yet another brawler heaven, and LRMs will suck there..

Also, Space Vegas? Was hoping for some battle damage..

Also, with all the neon lights, hope we won't have to use nightvision..

But hey... At least we get Tina Benoit looking down on us from a billboard Posted Image

Yet another? Did I miss something? To my experience we only have one currently.

And I'm sceptical of whether this one even is a brawl map. Looks very open. Not that we can it very clearly.

Map looks interesting. Can't wait to play on it! Ridley Scott will also be flattered.

Why is she the face of the product? Because she's pretty? That's the definition of objectification.

(Consider why it's not Paul, Russ, Bryan, Daeron or Phil up on that billboard.)

If Tina was dressed up as Mechwarrior, promoting JJ Fuel Drink as some kind of performance booster (or whatever it claims to do) that would be different. It wouldn't be about her looks, it would be about her endorsement as an 'expert consumer'. Instead, the way it looks at the moment is more reminiscent of a 50's era eye candy adjunct to an unrelated product.

I suppose, If that's how she wants to be depicted... well fine, that's her choice. We'll never know how comfortable or otherwise she feels about it.

But if I was PGI, I'd avoid this whole perception issue by either changing her to more of a 'prototypical Mechwarrior', and/or adding a male advertisement to the rotation.

Since I sexually identify as an attack helicopter objectifying any human does little for me.
If it was one of those vintage Bell V-22's I'd be all over that, I like them flexible.

I'm gonna be honest: I don't dig the aesthetic.

All I wanted was a dense urban environment that looks like any number of dense cities in the 'sphere. What we got was a gaudy, neon city that should come with an epilepsy warning. I mean, to be totally fair, I'd not mind at all if we could expect multiple city maps based on cultural aesthetics, such as Kurita "NeoTokyo" style, or Davion "New York" or "Boston," vs Liao "Pyongyang." A variety of visible cultural differences between cities would be cool.

But if we only have one real, true, no holds barred city, I think I would have preferred a more... generic looking place, ya know?

I love the idea of a city fight. I love that they have overpasses and various heights to work with. That there is a city that finally makes the mech look small by comparison. But that aesthetic.....

Maybe, but it does atleast match the Civil War theme, the riots and all that broke out during the era. Now if PGI intended to do that or not is beyond me lol....Also I hope only like the main drag is this flash with less flashy areas off to the sides.

If the neon is for the night map and it looks more normal urban in the daylight then I think this map could really work out. In either case I am just happy for mew maps. :-D

. And Tina is nice and all, and a pretty lady, but I don't know if that's really what I want on the buildings. It seems a bit crass and objectifying, for some reason. I think she deserves better treatment than that.

I thought the same thing. If she had a soda can in her hand and it was a soda ad, it would be cool. Otherwise this is just, look! a girl!

Crass and objectifying? Dude it's her face. You're acting like they forced her into a bikini or something.

You're right, it's her face and thats it. why is it even there i wonder. It should be an ad or something.

The map looks great. I cant wait for people to vote for Domination on Grim.

I appreciate much of what PGI does but this looks pretty weak. I hope not but I can't help but think "****** futuristic racing game arena".

Reminds me of the Armored Core V city maps.

That's very disappointing. That's the nail in the coffin for MWO for me. I was hoping for a reason to return to this game briefly now and again, while I wait for MW5, but I honestly didn't think that PGI would be able to screw up something as simple as an urban map. This literally looks like a 10 year old map. I simply don't understand the artistic choices they made here. Until I saw mechs in this video, I thought it was a joke. I get the Bladerunner reference and the attempt to play on the 80's craze in music and movies these days, but this doesn't look retro, it just looks poorly executed and outdated.

I don't imagine I'll be posting here anymore, since there's nothing else for me to look forward to. They finally delivered the urban map I'd been waiting for and it looks nothing like I expected. The same can be said about the MW5 trailer, unfortunately. Never theless, I see many people are still happy with the direction things are going, which is good. Hopefully PGI will surprise me and do well in the years to come. For the staff, for the loyal MWO players and for fans of Battletech everywhere, I honestly do wish MW5 becomes a big success.

Hope to see some of you in the 'verse. :)

I'm surprised at the big negatives here.

People whinged about how dull maps were. They make a bright, colorful urban map.

"OMG I AM SO LEAVING PGI SCREWED UP."

It's definitely a post-Oasis generation map, though, with lots of multi-level play seeming to be the course of the day.

But I like Oasis. It's a fun map to play on, it kicks NASCAR to the curb and that's my biggest complaint with earlier map generations. I hope this one also kills any attempts to build up a 500-lap count during gameplay.

This place is like being in a raft on the open Ocean. If you don't drink the "Salt" water it kills you, if you do drink the "Salt" water, it kills you.

Guess what, in the end, killed MWO? The SALT content. :(

Ah ha!

Just realized what the preview reminded me of.
Not Blade Runner, but Speed Racer.
Was driving me nuts. Just couldn’t place it. But yeah, the map is like right out of Speed Racer.

It's pretty condescending to think you have to be offended 'for' someone, as if they're not capable of making their own choice whether to be offended or not. But virtue signalling is today's 'there there, honey...I'll fight your fight for you.'

The map itself look alright I guess, I just kinda wish they would fix some issues with some of the other maps as well. For example, they could add a network of tunnels under Polar Highlands to allow brawlers to not instantly get lurmed to death on that map.
