thats all part of what makes FFA more fun IMO. theres an element of diplomacy and having to form impromptu alliances. you have to be able to read other players intentions through their actions. since the top 4 players would advance to round 2, if youre a good player you should be able to get in the top 4 consistently, even if other players are teaming up against you.
1v1 is just alphastriking splat builds until someone dies. thats terrible. there is no substance there.

I feel like PGI has finally realized that CW is a totally lost cause and given up on it. Unless they can find a way to do something about the imbalance between factions CW will never be fun for your average player. And I'm really not sure what can be done to rectify the aforementioned problem short of allowing IS to build clan 'mechs into their drop deck and allowing clans to build IS 'mechs into their drop decks, which will cause an entire shitstorm in and of itself by lore purists.

Who is us? I never once asked for solaris, and all of the players I once played this game with, left because that's all this game really is.

Theres heavy gear license to get i guess, or zoom way past all of this and go gundam.
If you dont want to follow the lore may i ask why would you even want the license to begin with? to cynically ride off established franchise?

I feel that the best route on MWO is trickle down on its development, and increasingly focus on moving the game to a new game engine, and I would think MW5 helps provide the infrastructure for that.

I certainly never begged for it, i spoke out against it as a poor choice of direction.
Solaris is one planet that has been given far to much attention in the lore, because it is small and takes limited amount of effort to write about, rather than an entire factions social make up or goals.
It's the cheapest, easiest most pointless institution created for the franchise, but of course it was going to be a P.G.I thing because it takes the least effort..
epeen world though will be a thing the only positive I can take from it's iclusion is that the socially inept, that have no desire to show team work will hopefully gravitate to it

Yup. I would think CW is dead at this point, and its better to focus resources on what people are actually playing or may potentially play upon.
The more niche or the smaller the player base is, the more you should not spread it out across different modal games like QP vs. FP.
CW/FP also suffers from already fatally inflicted negative branding, that even if you fix it, people will still stay away from it.

Feel free to stop spending money. Just keep playing with what you have now.
Or stop playing and go play something else.

simple.
you can follow the lore thats good
but ignore the lore thats bad like clan tech being 100% better and solaris being 1v1

The game mode I would want to see is to put 24 players in a single arena, and let them fight out to the last person, so there can only be one standing at the end.

There are. But you know, you should pay attention to what's being said in the presentation for Solaris; I suggest you go watch it again.
I have several times, hoping I was wrong, and that it's actually worth playing for something more than epeen measuring.
Only positive is that it should take away a lot of the people that like to blame others for their failure

If you avoid something because of negative branding why would you ever play anything made by pgi?

this would be amazing. but might get a bit cheap with teamspeak people ganging up on others.
I do it with some friends in private and it's a ton of fun. So much shenanigans

as i've said before, real balance is kinda impossible.. How exactly do you balance a mech that can be built good.. and then built bad?
Not my problem. PGI. NOT me but PGI is on record as saying things are in fact balanced or only a wee bit in variance.
Quote:
Inner Sphere to Clan balance in Win / Loss ratios between 'Mechs is the closest it has ever been within the game. With a global average performance difference of 6% between the factions. With the widest individual performance difference between 'Mech chassis' being 8%.
If balance is as you say "impossible" then PGI should STFU with their assertions that it is damn near perfect, don't you think?
And yet, Solaris as it is envisioned is, by way of its tiered structure, an admission that there is no real balance. So which is it? balance is only an 8% difference between the "widest individual performance" between chassis (chassis mind you) or balance is impossible, as you say?
Tell me? What basis do you have in making this assertion when PGI is saying its as close at it has ever been? Who should I believe you or PGI? If PGI cannot be believed, then there is no point in playing or further funding the game. And I am starting to take your point of view. How's that going to play out in Solaris? Really. Think it through.
If there is no balance as you assert, then why bother with your "scrub" mechs? If it is only 8% difference...like a Vindicator is only 8% difference in performance than a Deathstrike- then why do we need those tiers that PGI is planning for Solaris? You tell me. Cuz as far as I am concerned both positions means that this game, and its Solaris mode, are doomed from a competitive and viable future.
Balance can't be a scam or a case of three card monty. It has to be real. Without it, folks are going to play what is objectively and subjectively the best and disregard everything else. That will kill a game with hundreds of mechs and near infinite builds. If you can't see that, then there is no point in continuing this discussion.

It will be like a mech version of this currently running anime...where I got this idea from.
