I hope they make a hero mech for the weight class he made a name for himself in, complete with a special warhorn of him shouting KAPOW everytime you get a kill!

Couple of critiques....and thoughts...
-
The venue, while super nice and refined, was too small with all of the equipment etc, there simply was not enough seating for everyone at any one given time. For a 12 hour show, you need to allow people a space to base out of, I left my coat on a chair, and came back frequently to reclaim said chair, with a good view, and still, many times, I had to wait for someone to either need to get food or go elsewhere to get my seat back, and, I was never mad about it, because, there was no where else to sit. It was not a deal breaker, but it was, at times, very uncomfortable. - Great game play for the finals tourney, but, seriously, make them play random maps, or, disallow maps once they have been played, watching canyon and tourmaline over and over reminds of my whole last summer...and degrades game performance and tactical derivations.
- Loved the set up for viewing the matches, plenty of TV's the production quality was pretty good overall, there were mis steps, but not many, Bandit and MD were awesome as usual, always been big fans and they did not dissapoint.
Need more stations for actual play for attendees, the line was so long for the 1v1 that I just never wanted to stand in it for an hour....
LOVED the 15 minute play through of MW5, more on that in seperate posts etc...but it was an awesome way to let us take a peak and have some fun.
In summary:
I think PGI did fine, good stuff, the announcements were great, food was great (with the exception of the chili cheese fry debacle) If i were to hazard a guess, PGI is still doing a lot of the planning for this stuff in house, with the size growing to over 600 this year, it is time to hire out the planning to a legitimate party planner group, who would have immediately addressed the seating issue, the room was too small by a fair margin, it was rated to hold that many, but production stuff made it not very friendly in that regard, too many lights on stage etc, just some basic things that professionals generally catch, I fully believe that it will be 1k next year with the potential merging of the games etc....so, they need to get on hiring a pro someone with a CMP, and or, maybe someone associated with big time e-sports (which this is not, but the "type" of event is similar, and the demographic is exactly the same)
I had a wonderful time, I met many people I have played with over the years, some I hadn't. It was a great experience. I tend to lurk on the sides and not seek people out, that probably limited who I got to talk to a bit, but that's on me, the opportunity was there.....
man, the drinks though?? I used my two drink tickets for 2x beers, that was fine, then, I started buying $8 tickets for booze, I had 7 whisky and cokes, and did not even crack a buzz, they were ultra stingy on their pours, and I felt cheated a bit, again, that's not on PGI though, that's on the venue, and they were super stingy.
TL/DR had fun, good food, good people, good entertainment, bad seating and venue choice (though beautiful and nice, this was about size and set up) PGI needs a pro event planner to jump in (or a new one if they had one) I will be there next year barring some work limitation.
everyone needs a dedicated seat for a 12 hour event......no question about that
Overall, it was great!!!
looking forward to the future of this game and MW5, the future feels bright again, and that is really saying something!!
Thanks for all you folks did, I know it was a tremendous amount of work, and I had sooo much fun!!!
P.s. Happy to answer any questions based on my above critiques etc.....happy to help in any way..
Peace!!!

Pretty confident they watered down the alcohol. I had about 16 rum and cokes, definitely didn’t feel buzzed. Went to the tap bar the night before had 8 was buzzed.
22-25 I’m drunk... so yeah definitely something was up.

Thats nice bro,cool story.
not everyone is a public speaker.
perhaps you need to speak less and listen more.
now take your own advice and step away from the computer.
good night!
This is precisely the point that myself and others are making, thank you! Since not everyone is a public speaker, PGI should have someone present who is great at it!

As has been said in the mech con pattern redeem announcement, no. Only for chassis that were in the game until mechcon 2017, that is everything including Thanatos. Not for the Hellspawn, not for mechs in preorder (Piranha, Black Lanner, Sun Spider) or currently unannounced mechs.

The closer to Michigan the better
lol, if this is true, it will most certainly be in seattle....they just closed the last pods a couple of years ago, they are likely still there somewhere, and, seattle is about 2 hours form Vancouver.....doubt very much they would move to the east coast or the middle states with a giant city sitting right there....but, they will likely stay in vancouver, it's just cheaper than a road show....

With the new patch notes dropping today, it's almost as if Russ knew the clan side of the community was going to be out for blood. Seriously PGI? Directly buffing 5 IS mech chassis's and IS HMGs while nerfing all Clan MGs? When will the bias in favour of IS end? Even the announcement of the freebies on the 27th doesn't make up for this completely biased balancing against Clans that has been going on all year. When are IS RACs going to be nerfed down from God-Mode?
Meh. My unit plays both sides and I don't see the IS buffs as anything more than actually balancing out what was an obvious clan bias. Just look at the last half dozen new mechs that have been released for either side. Are you more excited / in fear of the Annihilator-Uziel-Osiris-Nightstar-Thanatos-Hellspawn or the Mad Cat IIC-Cougar-Arctic Wolf-Nova Cat-Piranha-Black Lanner-Sun Spider? I wish that I could get a refund on the Thanatos (very disappointed) and wouldn't even consider buying any of the other IS mechs in that lineup whereas all of the clan chassis are or look to be very usable to downright excellent. We manage to win with either side though. I think the issue might be that some players got complacent with the superior clan technology. Clan XL vs. IS XL/LFE design alone makes the former a better mech platform. How to take RACs down from god mode? Hit R. Alpha to middle of square. Step back around corner and notice that you weren't really hurt that badly by all that noise. Step over heap of scrap metal that was a mech who wasted tonnage on a RAC. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

You gotta remember these guys manage to make a game like this with a studio that's literally MAYBE a sixth of the second floor of a Mall that covers about half a city block. not much. mean, hell, HBS probably has more space than they do.
the stupidest thing i've seen is there's people bashing the MW5 Teaser on YouTube that're still acting like PGI is how it was pre-IGP being turfed on their asses, and actually even having the gall to compare PGI to EA, which we all know full well is ********, given PGI genuinely does care about what they do. all EA cares about is making a quick buck, which is why they got all that backlash from Battlefront 2, and literally got torn to shreds in the media by literally every other major game studio (Blizzard and Bethesda having particularly hilarious ads poking fun at them)
PGI might have a microtransaction system, but it's notable that all Hero Mechs do is give you a bonus to C-bill Earnings, and a diff hardpoint layout. none of them are really "better" in any way, just different, because it really just depends on your playstyle. Take the Centurion for instance. the Yen-Lo is an excellent medium brawler. But you could honestly do a similar damange profile and range, say, equipping a Centurion AL with a pair of Arm-Mounted Snubnose PPCs. Really all Heros give ya is choice in the matter.\
also, for the guy whining about the RACs needing to be nerfed? it's called moving. RACs don't track well, and will do a lot less damage if the pilot is forced to do so. it's when someone is standing in front of it like an idiot and tries to tank it that you get ripped to pieces. frankly... now you know how IS pilots felt when we ran into the KDK-3 Quad-UAC/10 build pre-UAC nerf. stop whining and adapt. this is Mechwarrior Online, not Turretwarrior. move and shoot, use cover, lock and pick out weakened armor sections and opened crits. basics every MechWarrior should know.

Speaking to that, I have some big holes in my IS deck even after the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales so come on CBILL sale! Daddy been savin up his space pennies!
Also, a big thank you for the generosity of the the gifts on the 27th. I won't go looking for alterior motives, I will just appreciate them. Between the advent and christmas gift MC I will be able to unlock the extra two ridiculously priced FP drop decks that currently aren't available to me.
As a fairly new player to the game, the one thing that really bugs me is not be able to pick a mech after a Quick Play map is chosen. I understand why the matchmaker works like this but would it be so hard to allow someone to switch to a different mech of the same or lesser weight? I can see that driving sales just so folks will have duplicates in different camo patterns / weapon mixes and eliminate the constant complaining about getting stuck on Polar Lurmlands with a brawl mech. I would buy a 4xLAMS Pirahna just to troll that map if I knew in advance. Sure, this would cause another couple minutes of waiting but would greatly improve the QP experience.

Solaris is pretty much meant to be a much easy "shortplay" mode that someone can make some C-bills on without having to search a long time. it'll also see a completely different set of builds made up for it due to its "duel"-style nature.
also, you're not allowed to pick a mech after the map for precisely that reason. you have to learn to adapt what you have and how you pilot, and how you work with your team to any situation. You go into a match with the equipment you have. no build is perfect for every map. key is just figuring out how to make up for those shortcomings with your own piloting skill. for instance, if you're on a hot map in an energy-heavy mech? learn proper fire discipline and take time to line up your shots, and back off to cool down, or set chainfire on so your heat sinks can manage easier.
the really pathetic thing i see is people voting away from Terra Therma when it's literally actually the fifth hottest map in the game now. the problem is idiots keep standing in lava and causing their heat sinks and engine to explode. Tourmaline, Rubellite, Sulfurous and Vitric Forge are all far hotter maps than Terra's ever been. hell, the Caldera on Caustic is too. it's a good map with a crappy reputation because pilots are too stupid to watch their footing and literally stand ankle-deep in molten rock and wonder why their heat sinks aren't working.
