When is MWO getting a HD graphics upgrade?
I have played since closed beta and the graphics looked dated even then, now 4+yrs later this game is looking very dated and past it's prime.
Even with Max details running with everything Ultra this game is just so so horrible to look at.

Are there plans for a graphics updated anytime in the future?

The game had better lighting and graphics during the Founders Beta.It actually looked pretty good.

Short of being ported (Which I believe they said wasn't in their plans), no. People have been speculating that the MW5 engine could be a new home for MWO, but... I wouldn't get your hopes up. One of those 'If it happens, great, if it doesn't, oh well' things.

I know and that's what is the saddest thing of all.. this game looks even more dated and low resolution now than it did then, and even then it was nothing special.

I guess they are more interested in pushing out premium mechanical than improving the look of the engine.

A HD graphics update is really needed to keep this game relevant.

Yeah. Why on earth would PGI spend all the money and dev time to port a game in which they've already sold 90% of what they can sell to the 20% of us who still play it...?

There's no way future incremental sales of Mech Packs, bolt-ons and cosmetics would anywhere near cover the developmental cost.

MWO will never be ported. People need to come to terms with that.

PGI technically can improve graphics and keep the FPS stable, as soon as they revert it to 8v8.

Hopefully it's still being fully textured etc. But yeah, at the moment it wouldn't look out of place in MechAssault.

If they kickstarted a project and gave mechs and MC as backer rewards, I would back it.

If they still have the license then. Microsoft may well do to Piranha what it did to Bungie. Let them develop it into popularity, then when the licensing is up, sell it off to the highest bidder. Last I understood Piranha has the license into the early 2020's

Wouldn't mind. Either it would just die then or given to someone else who might have read a book about game design. Then again it would still be designed on a badly designed game aka. Battletech.

Yeah, I'll just hope that someone sometime will make another good mech game. Preferbly not online multiplayer based like Titanfall.

I think you'd be in the minority. Many people who backed MWO have lost a lot of trust since then.

OP is remembering history a little wrong. The game was actually quite pretty back when it was first released, and there were various videos put out showcasing the graphics and destructability of the 'Mechs. Even now, it's not an ugly game by any means.

I say that would push the game's playerbase down a bit, if they try amping the graphics in any way.

The game isn't fully omptimised right that most people who don't have a strong gaming computer could barely reach 30 FPS (I know I was one of them, playing this game on 17 FPS half a year ago).

Trying to Upgrade Graphics and such especially with PGI, for the most part, can easily Backfire.

As a F2P game, Piranha has tried to make the graphics so they won't break older/budget gaming rigs. Obviously, this has resulted in the graphics not being as pretty as they could be. The game still looks good, but there is a definite issue where many of the older mechs could use a revision to their appearance, as their was a conscious design choice to make the mechs look used. A lot of the newer mechs, especially the clan mechs, seem to have a more polished texture, and look better for it.

On snow maps the game will look like absolute ****. That's an issue with CryEngine itself, for example...

It is terrible at handling contrasts in lightning in dynamic lighting.

There you go again. Posted Image

Returning to 8v8 is a regression, an admission of failure. It is not something that will encourage new players to join. It will cause existing players to finally leave.
