This shouldn't be possible. At first, I discounted it as me unwittingly turning my keyboard recording
on whilst in a match, hitting a series of keys and then somehow setting a trigger key in the process.

*First of all, I don't utilize keyboard recording intentionally, just haven't really felt like utilizing it.

This first started cropping up about a month or so ago, and it was rampant for sometime and it was understandably frustrating. It's pretty eerie when your mech starts walking and turning on it's own sometimes firing. Trying to be rational, I attributed it to my error; Except my MR-mouse recording key is all the way up on the top left of the keyboard about 1/2 inch diagonal of the escape key.
I never reach up that far, don't even really hit escape while playing (again don't use the recording feature)

Just last match it came back and it had been about 2 weeks or so since last occurence.
Further, my mech was out of my control as soon as we dropped on Frozen city Incursion, seemingly countering my every attempt to move forward. I finally just gave up on attempting to control my Nightstar and just let the keyboard do whatever 'it' wanted. It moved very bizarrely, as if someone was actually inputting the controls turning moving forward, going through a series of movements (you know as if W,A,S,S,D,W,A,A etc - because I tried to get up on all chat)
At this point (like not even 3-4 minutes in) it's like 0-6 reds and my Nightstar has been doing a wonky jig in the base.
Here's the kicker - I got on the mic and say something to the team, apologizing that i'm in an assault that is a total liability and can't even control it.
I decide to try and counter steer and my every move is negated. At which point I start walking backward. Oddly that works, but I'm still pretty frustrated by now. All of a sudden it let's up and I can control my mech just in time to walk out of the gate and be the 12th kill for a 12-0 roll.

WTF. Again, being rationally minded it's my keyboard recording turning itself on at conveniently random intervals at my most timely inconvenience.
However, it literally kicked on right when I dropped. Have had this happen before and it's frickin bizarre as hell.

My keyboard is a G. SKILL km780
I downloaded the user interface for it several weeks ago when I got sufficiently fed up with it, in an attempt to avert and ensure that the key log profiles were clear. And they are...every time. So there is that oddity.
I guess my next question is one of paranoia generated by frustration, is it possible to commandeer a usb interface if one is sufficiently determined/skilled?

sigh. so weird. Go ahead and mock, but I would love to hear some knowledgeable feedback or similar experiences. Tin-foil hat engaged.

I had similar issue, and nearly lost my mind. Turns out my wife trolled me with a wireless keyboard while I wasn't looking. :D

What keyboard do you use? Does it require a driver update?

If you havn't done some of these obvious things try them.

Be sure you have no other controllers plugged in.

Tip you keyboard over and be sure there isn't debris jamming up your keys. Be sure your keyboard/mouse is free of debris and obstructions.

Run the MWo repair tool

Delete and resave you MWo player profile/ keybinds

Oh jeez, that's pretty clever. Mine wouldn't do that tho, at least I don't think she has lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't some firmware stability issue on this keyboard, but damn if it isn't creepy and wonky.

Real cherry on top to my T5 performance in game as of late. Rounded tonight off with dropping against Tier and the gang from 24-7 repeatedly. smh

I had something similar in BF4. After some insanely frustrating debuging... turned out i had my joystick/hotas still plugged in and it disabled some keys and then stickied others randomly. Make sure you have nothing weird in your usb port and just to be sure unplu\g all of it, clean it and plug it back in.

Usually when I've seen this happen in the past its always been due to lost packets and desyncing from the server.

And given all the snowstorms in the east coast use where some of the major network nodes are, I wouldn't be too surprised to see that being a common issue for the next few weeks.

Thought it was odd that ctfmon.exe was running, but disabling that blocked my keyboard. Must be required for this style of keyboard which is USB. Ultimately, I think by keeping the g skill interface ui open and or running will help prevent future funk, idk.
Screw it, I'll just hardwire an old typewriter and it'll be bulletproof, just not sure if my desk is rated for that weight :-)

My keyboard used to type 55555555555 for no reason. Stopped when I cleaned the usb port.

Yup, this and if my kids have been on my computer there is often food...god I hope its food...stuck in some of the keys and even the mouse buttons and as a result I will have had some really odd consequences. Ctrl resulted in the hud flashing on and off once. And if I could figure out what caused the effect of my mech appearing to side step to the right (and only to the right and nothing else) I might be tempted to replicate the effect on purpose. In all instances however, a good cleaning of the keyboard and ports solved the problems.

You can try to connect a different keyboard (a simple one w/o programming features) to rule out other factors. If your problems are gone then your keyboard or it's software is the problem. Otherwise you need to look at other things like usb port (try changing it), windows configuration, third party software, other controllers like gamepads, ect.

Edit: Some USB hubs can cause problems too. For instance my keyboard stops working entirely from time to time. I then need to plug out the USB hub where it's connected to and plug it in again to reset some broken stuff.

This is why at the start of our relationship I told my lass we aren't having kids, end...of...story!

Ctfmon is the Microsoft process that controls Alternative User Input and the Office Language bar. It’s how you can control the computer via speech or a pen tablet, or using the onscreen keyboard inputs for asian languages.

https://answers.micr...bb663502?auth=1

Control panel -> Admin tools -> services -> Touch Keyboard and Handwriting panel service
Set this to disabled and stop the service.

That may be related to the Xbox software being enabled/re-enabled.

You don't need technical help. It sounds like you need an exorcist:

(insert meme of Linda Blair's head twisting 360, but with a keyboard as her body).

I've had similar problems before, and found that taking my hand off the keyboard and giving a solid whack to the movement keys fixes it.

When all else fails, try percussive maintenance.

I have something similar to this happen with my mouse sometimes in MWO. Usually mashing the offending buttons clears it. But I've often fired a weapon group and then let off the button only to have that weapon group fire again every time it comes off cooldown. I don't know what causes this, as this does not happen with any other programs that I run and I have checked my mouse every time and the key is not physically stuck in a depressed position.
