I'm just here taking notes of the things I can still get away with in my Fle-20.

Just a heads-up since i saw a couple of posts saying Heat vision will help.

It does not. The mech internalizes all heat during Stealth armor operation. The mech will show up at enviroment temperature.
Other than that, all solutions pointed here work although i point that (other than shooting it dead XD ) shooting it with a ppc is the more efficient way of getting it to show up on sensors.

I really don't get the heat vision thing. I hear this over VOIP occasionally too. Have people actually tried this before they suggest it? I play in heat vision probably 90% of the time, and usually only drop out when there is a stealth mech nearby. Heat vision makes it much harder to see stealth mechs, not easier.

Thermal doesn't work with stealth, the point of stealth armor is to stop the heat exhaust. It prevents targeting, thermal viewing, and locks with anything. The downside is the pilot using it has trouble dissipating heat and can't target beyond about 150ish meters.

You need direct fire and learn to see ****. Alternatively, shoot the thing with a PPC to shut off the stealth armor immediately.

A dual heavy gauss hit makes stealth permanent.

I only wish that it automatically stopped working when it's that last guy running around doing nothing. Also have seen nothing positive that this tech has added to the game. Only purpose appears to be trolling or shenanigans.

Q is weapon group 4 on my client. How does firing LRMs help on my Kodiak?

It helps no one because lrms shouldn't be on a Kodiak.

You can just shoot it. Skip to 11:31 and see a stealth locust make the no 1 mistake that kills all lights; stopping in front of the enemy team to attack one enemy.

yes, the deathstars stealth armor made it hard to see

I was 1 kill off the "DeathStar" achievement once with one trigger pull to go and a friendly light that had hidden and done 59 damage total game damage fired one laser and stole the final blow. I wish I could flex that achievement now that I haven't really played in 2 years. 11 kills with one trigger pull to go RAAAAAH haha.

When "low level play" includes all of Quick Play, most of CW, most of Group Que.... Basically 99% of the game, it's no longer "low level play". It's the game. Essentially ALL play.

This competitive area of MWO you speak of is so small and insignificant at this point that it isn't even worth bringing up.

We have competitive? You mean Solaris? :^)

Heat and night vision work fine, you just have to know what to look for. People get lazy with heat vision just looking for bright spots, even when there's a dark gray object dancing in front of them. You need to look for movement, especially legs. And as others have mentioned, most stealth mech pilots bug out quickly when you shoot at them.

Did something change recently? Every once in a while, like a match I had five minutes ago, I get killed by streaks while I'm in stealth.

So as far as I know you can't be targeted at all while in stealth. We tested it way back and nothing would detect a mech under stealth. TAG, Narc, UAV, BAP, or ECM on disrupt. Or combos of those.

The only way to detect one was to...
See him moving with your eyes...any mode of vision, although normal mode works best.
Shoot him with a PPC, which temporarily disables the ECM and Stealth.
Or if he overheats, or gets hot enough to need to shut off the stealth for a bit to cool down.

So how is it that every once in a while I'll have people lock me up with LRMs, ATMs, or Streaks...while my stealth is enable?
And it's not that I'm being hit by stray shots meant for someone else. Bitching Betty is telling me "Incoming Missiles", and there's no friendlies around to be attracting it.

I'm wondering if it's a bug, people cheating, or the rules have changed.

Last match the dude was a point blank range. For the first shot he missed with normal SRMs, and then he kept hitting me with his Streaks. Something ain't right.

Last week when I was playing some matches for the event missions, I noticed I could throw a mech out of stealth entirely by sweeping a TAG onto it, so that may be doing it.

Maybe. Grunhe thought that TAG might work on stealth if you TAG them from outside of their ECM bubble. I've only tried TAGging at close range. I'll have to see if it works from farther away. Or maybe they just changed how it works.

Yes, tag outside the ECM bubble counters stealth

I trained a Typhoon MK II Neuro-net to automatically detect, lock-on, and eliminate stealth mechs. It's allowed in the CoC so I recommend you using it too.

check out this thread from reddit

I am not against changes but it does irritate me that I have to spend days going through every flipping patch note
for all the goofy Mechanics they come up with

Bottom line-- things change
