its not tankier than most assaults like the assassin

so yeah its really not comparable

It's considerably smaller though. I don't know what all the fuzz about Assassins is about, honestly. I have no problem with them in QP, and I am really not one of the better players.

Huh. Please build a 70+ alpha laservomit IS mech and tell me how hit it is.

That you'd actually run? Maybe a 61 alpha, hot as hell, Black Knight 6B.

But 70 would take an Annihilator with 6 LPL and 2 ML, and it would evaporate almost as fast as a DireStar.

MAL-2P grts to a 68 alpha using twin Gauss, twin LL, and four ERML with 13 DHS. Thanks to the heat gen quirk it has, it's not half bad. Just...55 kph after partial tweak, lul

energy annihilator is stupid

because the 300 engine stops it from having enough heatsinks to run energy builds anyway

and if you really wanna run energy on an annihilator for some reason youre better off with the 1P anyway for the 5 high energy hardpoints

the annihilator-1E is crap IMO

Yeah, everybody knows how utterly dominant the Assassin rules over almost any match nowadays. Oh wait... Posted Image

That Mist Lynx with 800 MGs is pretty devastating as well, and the Piranha has not even been released yet. Let's wait a few weeks, I don't think the Assassin will be a major topic anymore come February.
is dissagree on that comparison due to how easy it is to take off the arms of the linx. You can't disable the assassin that easy.

Except that everyone knows to disable a cheetah or an assassin by shooting the legs off. With a crit lynx, you're tempted to shoot the arms, which ends up making it live longer.

I'll give you a hint: use those OP 2 slot double heatsinks in conjuction with lighter weaponry and lower slot endo/ferro upgrades in order to stack 24+ DHS on your average clan heavy/assault

I can honestly say that I haven't played a single Invasion game where teamwork hasn't been the deciding factor. That is not to say that there isn't imbalance. It just means that it is close enough that it isn't the deciding factor.

We can talk all day about things like heat, XL engines and big alpha strikes but their is a couple is simple things that can be done to help balance things a lot better.

1. Remove the tonnage restriction on drop decks and replace it with a CBill restriction instead. Prices set by the actions of the community itself in a simple supply vs demand equation. Mechs that are used a lot (meta) go up in price. Mechs that are not used go down.

Nothing will get priced out of use because as soon as use drops so does the price. All those sub par Mechs collecting dust in garages suddenly become useful as they will be cheep fillers. Without the need for tonnage disparity to try and level Tech base, you can start to do some really fun stuff. Mixed decks for Lone Wolf (new players). Salvaged Mechs for Mercs. CBill price reductions on Mechs that are common to your specific faction in lore. Taking a planet with a production facility could actually do something.

2. Introduce tradeoffs for alpha size and speed. Most of the balance issues arise because IS simply wants to run around with the same speed and alpha as Clan. We could just clone Clan tech so they can or we could introduce tradeoffs so speed and alpha size arent the be all, end all of combat in MWO. I've said this many times over but the bigger the alpha and the faster your traveling the less accurate the weapons should be. A curve that is capped at both ends so assults and lights are not unduly effected but going going 70km vs 80km and doing 50 vs 65 alpha becomes player preference rather than just 80km 65 alpha being simply better due to game mechanics.

Yo Douglas grizzly, I was in a PUG FP match against you recently and we won pretty decisively. At the end of the match you cried about "OP IS mechs" and "3 players with suspicious accuracy, I have reported all of them". Fact of the matter is that you need to improve your game and stop accusing people of cheating when they beat you fair and square with better tactics and accuracy. That's all.

Accusations of cheating are his go-to. I've had the displeasure of dropping with him in the QP-solo queue, and while he has the basics of the game down, he still has a lot to learn. Last I saw him (a few months ago), he reached a new low by beginning the match with accusations of cheating. People have told him over and over about what he does wrong, but he refuses to accept that he gets killed because of his own misplays.

A much better player than I am broke it down for him HERE.

considering how much firepower is in the arms of the linx it dosnt matter. You shoot off both arms and they have what? One er small? W/e... if you take off both arms they will have no teeth and now combat ineffective.

So he has a reputation for this? How utterly un-surprising :) Just watched the highlight of your Twitch stream, wow. That explains a lot actually. And it has been over a year and he still plays the same record when he doesn't do well. I mean I can get salty too at times, but accusing people of cheating when you enter a brawl with a red cored CT.. Enough of that ;)

I agree that PGI has turned to raising Heat too often and Clan weapons get extra heat nerfs to the point that the game mechanics are breaking. The latest round of heat nerfs were directly aimed at one mech, the Supernova, but what happens if you use a different Clan mech? Most Clan mechs have fixed equipment which is set up to limit the number of Heatsinks and their location so they got nerfed for nothing.

They buffed Clan DHS a couple of months ago....pretty big buff if you ask me. Clan Lasers are easy mode right now. And if you factor in the skil tree that gives -heat as well.

I came back after a break of like 4 months....no issues with clan heat anymore, was even able to switch lots of heatsinks for other equipment. Most of the time it's the 2slot DHS that make the difference. My IS Mechs can't compete vs. 50% more DHS, making lasers and PPCs in pure energy builds too efficient.

The only heat issue I see when I play against topicstarter is heat of his chair.

lol like that will ever happen

do you know why mechs are being divided into 7 tiers in solaris?

PGI is telling us in a not so subtle way that they have no intention of ever balancing mechs

if they were going to balance mechs they would only need 1 tier

Except I'm not asking all mechs to be balanced--which is near impossible to do. I am asking base tech balance between IS and Clan--which is far easier to accomplish.

Correct, and the skill tree gives more bonus cooling to Clan mechs since they can pack more external DHS.

Fun facts: HBK-IIC-A 2xERLL+6xERML is unarguably the best medium in game - best mech to grind matchscore, ultradecent in fp, most used mech in WC, EBJ 2xLPL+6xERML was/is/will be fp workhorse, reason why not seen in WC - to easy to pick off CT if you can aim also was testing a lot of heavies and EBJ got highest results among them all in solo queue.

This guy is right.
I am a "first jaguar guard" and tomorrow i sign an IS contract with auto renew.
This says it all

Den, hellbr vomit is even better than ebon, but the point is that there are 12 man is thay on quickplay maps in fp send 6 annihilators in the front and 6 assassins in the *** at same time, and clans just lack of dps to get through all that armor. In fp maps they just zerg the gens and since we lost uacs....gg

Sorry, but as long as THIS remains a viable build, I will continue to laugh at your attempts to tell me that Clan heat is out of control. Been playing this Supernova since the day it came out for CBills and it is still a perfectly deadly machine. One weapon group to the three ERLLs in the right arm, one weapon group to the three ERLLs in the left arm, and a third weapon group for the two MPLs. It is perfectly manageable so long as you make sure you don't fire both arms at exactly the same moment.
