"OMG, it's soo squishy with that giant torso hitboxes. I regret preordering it!"

Seriously, look at the concept art. Don't expect massive quirks at least on the ECM variants.

When considering to preorder it have a plan in mind on how to play it effectively with that weakness or be satisfied with it being a favorite of yours from the lore and/or because you like it's design.

But please don't preorder it in hope it will become tanky enough to be a front-line mech like many apparently did with the Thanatos.

Say it loud: "If it looks big on concept it will probably be big on the final model." Posted Image

If you buy a 100 ton stalker, don't gripe when you lose a torso when a locust sneezes on you. It has no shield arms, its going to be a bad mech.

I mean, just because it will likely end up squishy doesn't mean it should be tho.

True, but since we have no guarantee from PGI that it get's suitable quirks it does not matter much what the mech should be.
When preordering expect the worst and be prepared to make the mech work regardless.

For example if the Thanatos 5S would have been in the standard-package i would have preordered knowing it won't need much armor as a stealth-armored dual-gauss sniper. I knew it would be fun no matter how it's quirks and hitboxes end up. Posted Image

But for a one-trick pony the reinforcements-package was not worth it for me.

Sure, don't pre-order expecting quirks. I didn't do that with the Nightstar, I just didn't expect it to come out that big and with such a poor model and animations. But once you have it in your hands, I think it's fair to make all the criticisms you want on how well it does or does not play.

The sad part is the Sleipnir probably does the FNR-5 stock build (dual heavy gauss) better since it isn't a 100 ton trog.

But it's a Fafnir... something you only get two of in MW4 Mercenaries campaign (depending on who you align with during a critical choice. On one hand you get two for defending some mechworks factory and the other you get one from salvage) and MWLL. So it's really a nostalgia purchase like the Thanatos or Hellspawn. Get a Sleipnir, it's better.

If it gets the same amount of effort and attention to detail that the previous mech packs have been getting, It will look and move like a pile of hot garbage.

People were already saying the Sun Spider looked like a Locust who ate too much pizza, but how on earth does one manage to extrapolate a Locust from the Fafnir?

It's a great mech to die in, warnings sent and received.

There are a some other ways they could theoretically make the mech bad, and still have armor and ecm. Some examples - Poor Agility for its tonnage (Think Kodiak) Poor torso twist angles, or acceleration, etc.

It's not set in stone that the ECM variants absolutely HAVE to be poorly armored.

PGI should just roll with the Fafnir as a glass cannon design and give it fantastic (heavy) gauss range and cooldown quirks. Heavy gauss hasn't had its time in the sun yet as the meta crowd's preferred PPFLD weapon yet.

Dude...400 meter HGauss would be absolutely filthy.
