interesting,
but the whole time I was on last night (starting 2 hours after start of event), there was a ticker at the bottom announcing the daily event.
So seems it was possible to know of the event if you were in game.

maybe those that didn't see that, may have a broken ticker Posted Image

Once I was done with my X2 with my alts, I had some fun, well better fun, it was all fun with the alts.
For my IS part, I just removed the Heavy MG and replaced with regular MG +1, on the BSW X1, increased engine size, and done in 2 matches
for the Clan, I had a bad experience with the cheetah MG 1st match, so bought the SHC P, 7 MG, and for something different, ERPPC, Now that was fun, won't be taking that into faction, but it was a fun one to run in Quick. Could had just done it with lasers but been a while since I used PPC's , grabbed enough GXP to get Adv Zoom, and 5% range, Arty & Air, and 2 Gathering mods, I'll earn the rest later, had to do a second match (3 total)

then went Streak dog for a bit, for some more fun

but yeah, that ticker was running , and announcing the event, in game, so if you were in game, you really shouldn't have missed knowing there was a event currently running

I don't understand how can people who love mechs can be so discriminating on the mechs they own. If you love mechs, you would try to own mechs regardless what tech they are. It is also doing yourself a huge disservice in enjoying this game an what it has to offer.

When I started playing tabletop Battletech in the early 80's, there were no Clans. The mechs I fell in love with were IS mechs, and that carries on to this day. I still have all my sourcebooks from back then, including technical blueprint posters of the original Warhammer, Battlemaster and Marauder. I even sent away for a recruiting pack and dogtags from FASA (I had to wait about 4 months for those damn things to make it to NZ). There are also a fair number of Battletech fiction books on my shelves. I now play these with my kids, and I've read my son the Thunder Rift trilogy.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that to some of us, this isn't just a game of big stompy robots. We have an emotional connection to this fictional world, and its lore, that goes back many years. People on this forum may ridicule those of us for whom this matters, but that's OK. I think we get more out of the game by playing it our way.

And anyway, what is with that horrible Clan cockpit voice. How can you stand it Posted Image

(I'm not averse to piloting a clan mech for awhile to get a reward. But I also don't want to spend a heap of spacebucks on a temporary mech, that I'll only have to sell again to free up the mech bay. I may be staunchly IS, but I'm not silly)

How do you collect the items for the challenges? I clicked redeem but I am not seeing it in my inventory in the cockpit. (Day 2)

Does this seem odd to anyone else?

I assume that either the 600 or the 150 on there is a typo.

I haven't logged into the game yet today, is the cbill medallion reward for Day 2 just something that looks pretty?

Yeah, it just looks pretty. It doesn't boost your C-Bill gains.

You have to « equip » it in the mech lab, in the mech you want it « equipped »on.
Select the cockpit option to get access to the bling bling :)

If you already knew and did the above, please disregard this xD

Login off and back in might update your account with the item.

Otherwise, feel free to contact support :)

Cheers !

I assume that they are both typos! That's a ludicrous goal for a 24 hour period.

LOL . . best part, no one running in front of me trying to get (steal) the kill, can't score an assist if you kill, so they be just doing as much damage, without killing . . sheesh . . it's just 10 assist, I can understand completing the day2 event in one match if all you have time for is one match.
that10 assist should be 50 assist, but seeing the reward . . hmmm, really wouldn't call day2 an event, it's nothing out of the normal regular game play that happens in one match for some, 2-3 for others, just a extra 50k C-bills, or did I read that wrong

does make some interesting team work, if you want to call it that

maybe it's that time of day where no One understands it's still a team game. Can't be that there is a Event that doesn't take you outside of normal play, can It ?

Okay, to the next Alt, for an extra 50K Posted Image

ETA: okay it's 500k, bad math . . damn that's a easy 500k .. yay Posted Image

Seems to be only regular machine guns. Did the clan side with a shadowcat. Any good suggestions for the IS side of things. I own few IS mechs and most of those are towards the heavier end of things.

We've seen it before with people that don't own a mech of "type X" that is eligible for a particular challenge... "A CHALLENGE FOR LIGHTS ONLY?!?!?!? OMFG PGI YOU HATE ME B/C I HAZ ONLY HEAVIEZ!!!!!!!!"

Any mech with ballistics will do the job. I've seen players do the challenge in Assaults and Heavies eg Mauler, Timber Wolf, Mad Cat, Marauder, King Crab. I personally did it in the 2017 Loyalty Griffin for the IS side.

There is no more specific name for it than 'Machine Gun' that can differentiate it. They don't call it a RMG for 'regular machine gun.' The official nomenclature is literally just 'Machine Gun.' When one sees the words 'machine gun' without being followed by the parenthetical words 'any class' one's thinking should default to the regular machine guns we had before the HMG and LMG existed.

And just to be clear, I'm not bagging on you for it...I myself ran a couple of matches with a mech armed with LMGs before I noticed what I was doing. There just isn't anything PGI can do to make a Machine Gun any different from the machine gun class of weapon without treating us like children.

If I'm a betting person I'd say the sentence is built with dropdown lists to select criteria, with the weapon criteria based entirely on the weapon name. So "Machine Gun" is literally "Machine Gun".

I failed to achieve Day1 objective 2. I played 12 games using machines guns as support weapons on a Direwolf Ultraviolet. Ran out of time to try to achieve 500 damage in my Black Widow Warhammer. My consolation is the 2+ million C-Bills I raised trying.

Updated post clearly states what weapons (don't) work. Matt even added that Artemis SRM6 don't count, probably because it is a different weapon and not just a SRM6 with an Artemis IV slapped on.

The main reason I try to avaoid clan mechs is that. May sound silly to some, but I can't stand it. I have a Summoner-D from a supply cache, didn't get it very far, about 20/91 or something. Stupid config, and with that voice I just can't justify dropping CB on it to build something useable.

You should have used lights and meds not a direwolf! nice try though. It was a bit hard. 10 assists is one game though.

Good news are - All the next objectives are VERY easy and with good rewards. Day 7 seems bugged atm.

If there is a hard way I am certain it is mine. My Direwolf Ultraviolet easily carries 4 machine guns along with 2 LBX2s, 3ERLLs,, and a ATM-6 & ATM-3.

Is there any chance in future events to have IS and Clan have separate conditions to meet the goal? I have a dedicated account for each faction so having to use mechs from both factions means I've got to spend precious c-bills on mechs I would not use outside of the particular challenge.

For clarity, I'm not saying reduce the amount of work needed to complete the challenge, just to allow tech specific options for completion.

That's way better than some of the crazy Annihilators and King Crabs I was seeing last night. At least you had other weapons on your mech and could defend yourself with more than a few lasers. So many Annihilators were getting burned down before they could even get close to anybody with their machine guns.

What I don't get is the violent leap to bash people who find enjoyment in loyalist play (be it for lorem roleplay, preference for omni's, separating factions, etc .. whatever reason doesn't matter). I haven't seen a single reasonable argument why simply splitting the MG event into IS, 500dmg MG, 50MC, 1x50 cal item and a separate Clan, 500dmg MG, 50MC, 1x50 cal item.

Simple, rewards mercs with both, allows loyalists to get 'there share', and there's no more work to get the whole payout than having them combined.

/shrugs

Forget it, dude. You're trying to deal with people whose fundamental argument is a blind appeal to authority. They're not going to give you a single reasonable argument because there isn't one, since their position is untenable. There are no practical differentiating factors between loyalists and "normal" players, and yet they will treat the decision to use only a single faction's mechs as a skill factor in accomplishing the challenge. You didn't buy Clan mechs as an IS player, therefore you are less skillful, and have no right to complain about not being able to complete the challenge, duh!

All you can really do is wait for one of their houses to burn down, so that you can tell them "well, you didn't have to be living there! You only have yourself to blame for your decision!"

Case in point:

View PostMovinTarget, on 16 January 2018 - 03:16 PM, said:

but then you'd have the people crying that they don't own a mech with more than one ballistic hardpoint or something like that.

This guy, who can't differentiate between actual skill/dedication, and arbitrary exclusion.

These people wouldn't in the least bit get affected if these events catered to us equally, but in their drive to score some brownie points, they needlessly created enough counteracting feedback to ours for PGI to think that no changes are necessary, and now we see that another two event days will be just like the first one.

It's dumb. They get absolutely no rewards for arguing against us, but do anyway.
