All you can really do is wait for one of their houses to burn down, so that you can tell them "well, you didn't have to be living there! You only have yourself to blame for your decision!"
Case in point:
This guy, who can't differentiate between actual skill/dedication, and arbitrary exclusion.
These people wouldn't in the least bit get affected if these events catered to us equally, but in their drive to score some brownie points, they needlessly created enough counteracting feedback to ours for PGI to think that no changes are necessary, and now we see that another two event days will be just like the first one.
It's dumb. They get absolutely no rewards for arguing against us, but do anyway.
Ah, still at it I see.
The amount of time you've spent complaining about the event could have been used to farm up for another mech. If you only want to play a single side, by your own choice, then you can't get the reward. Simple as that.

And yet you still haven't explained why it should be like that.
And you won't, because you're capable of nothing more than backseat authority.

Because if anything, the event was to see the current status of « regular » mgs in the game.
A balance test if you will.
And this requires both side to test it with the differents techs.

Applying logic.
The introduction of a MG boating mech that pretty much doubles what any other mech is capable of needs a bigger data set.
It's a clam mech, so if they make any changes to the clam mg's they need a corresponding data set for IS mech to prevent power creep/nerfing occuring to one side only.
I see there is also a SRM dual side event scheduled, so I think they want to review those as well.

Bottom line, PGI does not have to explain itself on every little detail of everything it does, just as no one in game is obligated to buy both and and IS mechs, or equip meta loadouts on said mechs.
PGI can not be faulted if users opt to not utilize any/all tech. PGI is not obligated to ensure that every.single.challenge caters to all players within their self-imposed restrictions. In fact it makes good business sense to encourage players to be as fully immersed as possible in their product which can include the acquisition and usage of all tech available in the game.
My underlying point which can be corroborated in just about every forum thread on this site and several on Reddit is that PGI (nor any other entity for that matter) cannot satisfy their entire customer base all the time. So why keep trying to overthink think it?
Find me an official PGI event thread that is devoid of salt/whining and I will quit the game. Because even the Just-show-up-for-one-game-and-win-swag events got salt. Someone always complains. Always. If not you someone else.

Meh... I just would have liked the chance to see if there really was a bug with that one after someone else mentioned directly to me IRL that they might have only been given one of the two ".50 Cal Necklaces" that the Reward said it was supposed to give. I guess I'll never find out now.

An argument which absolutely makes no sense for those that have separate accounts for each faction and have spent heavily to fund those accounts and have therefore supported all parts of the game. It is of little consequence this time, though, as the reward in this case is trivial, not even worth buying a cross-faction mech to complete it.

Why this wasn't obvious to everyone the moment the event began is beyond me.

PGI doesn't see 'I'm one person with an account for each side,' they see two halfassed accounts. In an academic sense, they know you exist, but unless you're in line for a banning with one or both of those accounts and they're investigating you they'll never know those two accounts are both yours.
