a dual ER PPC SHC actually makes a clan drop deck work very well. It allows for 3 65 ton mechs to be dropped. and the DUAL ER PPC's can be used to support other mechs of heavier tonnage with burst suppression fire.

also Ash I sent you a PM take a read over it and let me know what you think?

There are several maps/modes where a dual PPC Shadowcat pilot can make himself a monstrous pain in the a** to the enemy team due to the mech's jumping ability, general agility and decent speed.

One example is Vitric Forge, Siege attack or Defense. Getting on top of the citadel in the middle of the map gives you the opportunity to pop turrets, kill one of the gens, harass the enemy with pinpoint damage from above, call out enemy movements to your team. All sorts of stuff.

That plus the deck tonnage synergy with Clan 65-tonners makes the SHC very attractive.

What time zone?

Read the first post for when I am online next for training (will not be for a few days yet, as most people are US which means weekends for me). I won't be free this weekend unfortunately.

Also read this thread and ensure you are bringing decent builds. There are plenty posted.

I'd rather take PIR-1 over 2xPPC SHC. Such a garbage it is. Also it gives ability to swap one 65t to 90t.

They're for entirely different roles though. A 2 ERPPC SHC would be great for a long-range cold map deck, on maps like polar, boreal, or alpine.

To add to this, SHC mobility and standoff with the ERPPC build makes it a useful option for Siege Attack against slow HGauss assaults too.

Ive played for many years but never gone into faction play, much less even created one of those drop deck things. I actually appreciate this offer and if I get a chunk of time over a weekend I might consider, perhaps taking you up on the offer if its still going.

UK player GMT TZ.

(I suck 80% of the time in 99% of the mechs)

Yep I will keep going with this. UK timezone might be a bit of a struggle to line up with me though.

Next 2 weekends I am not around (again). I might take a day off work on a Mon, so US Prime on Sunday, given I'm working flat knackers and I miss gaming lol.

Sorry for not being more available which I thought I would be. Running 2 businesses and trying to have something that resembles a social life is sometimes a bit of a juggling act.

This is true. In terms of raw DPS the mech looks like an 60T gunship in a 40T body.

I really want to take part in this. New player, only played quick games because honestly, faction games look intimidating.

Have a read of the first post.

Then have a look at the other pages with mechs, builds and skill trees.

Then you are on your way to being ready for QP. If you don't do that, honestly, it will be a waste of time training. I don't mean that in a rude way but it's good to start with a good base rather than a wonky one.

Haven't posted here in awhile, but just wanted to say thanks again to Ash, Palfatreos, and the other people that are contributing to this thread and that have helped me in game. The advice in this thread was a great nudge in the right direction and allowed me to focus on learning the mode with descent mechs/loadouts/skill trees. Having to figure out the basics of all that while trying to also figure out the mode would have made this much, much harder. I really can't tell you guys what a help you have been. Not sure I would have stuck with FW without all the help and guidance from the community.

Last night I probably had my best game in a quality match that we ultimately barely lost. I've had better individual performance in stomps or where both teams were full of pugs, but close matches like the one last night were the reason I was attracted to this mode in the first place. Anyway, here is the humblebrag post-game screenshot I took of the match.

Nice one dude.

Was good to have you along yesterday in the drops too. Had some very solid matches against teams and you were laying down over 1k damage consistently, which in a team of some heavy hitters, is pretty hard to do.

Thanks for inviting me to the drops last night. I picked up a couple of things last night (such as pre-twisting while walking through places like that grim portico choke point where I lost my back). I'd been twisting, but usually not until being shot at - stuff like that I'm still learning.

I expect most of the newbies posting in this thread to go far in this mode - y'all are gonna be the next generation of pilots who get singled out by your enemies Posted Image
