That's a mech lab issue where it has one warning message for any combination that includes heavy lasers. The actual limit is 4 heavy medium, 5 heavy small, 6 er/pulse small or medium, or 8 of either micro laser. However they're all linked to the same group, so the stock piranha 2 loadout...if you fired all the lasers with 0.5 seconds together, you're hit with the ghost heat penalty as if they were all the hottest laser in the group, which would be the heavy medium. Twelve heavy mediums is already 327 heat so fifthteen is probably in the realm of six or seven hundred.

Seconded. If you bring only micros, you can alpha 8 of them without hitting 'ghost cap'. Add even a single small or medium and your 'ghost cap' drops to 6. Tested and confirmed on PIR 1, 2, 3, and the 1S.

plenty of viable non-ECM mechs on both sides. have the sense of the average surat, and try something else. Pirates Bane, cheap? In MC, perhaps. But that takes either time to collect enough MC from special events or real money to get. Speaking of other cheap mechs, the Commando hero among others also falls into that category. But yet it is the PB I keep seeing running around the battlefield. Quite the coincidence, quiaff?

Aside from that number being inflated and only one varient of the MAD IIC actually able to mount ECM, my point was never about pointing fingers nor that the IS were using too much ECM, I simply used the Locust to compare against the Piranha since they are the only two 20-ton mechs in the game and it uses its ECM to help it survive. Logical choice for a comparison, quiaff?

The vast majority of my mechs do not have ECM, FYI. Just making a comparison.

Lastly, please pay attention to your grammar. Poor grammar like yours is very irritating.

Thanks for the input re: laser ghost heat. I removed the oddballs and it showed the correct max number for type.

On a side note, more tests to come, but do not alpha a PIR-2. Self Insta-Gib.

I emailed pgi about the narrow cockpit view, lord knows if they'd respond otherwise simply from patch forum feedback posts.

I posted a bunch of cockpit views into a piranha thread in the general forum, taken from the same spot on the frozen city testing grounds. I have a 24 inch wide Asus HD gaming monitor, in-game settings are full screen, 75 deg FOV, 1920x1080 resolution (which is good for a typical 80-90fps from my system on this poorly coded game).
