Oversized mechs are the norm around here. That is why I'm not buying it with real money. They need to do more sneak peaks and previews of things before they release them.

I'm waiting to see the agility values PGI gave it. I would not be surprised in the slightest if it has the handling of a medium rather than a tiny light.

Well lets see:

20 ton mech.

MG boat with not enough ammo for all of the ballistic hardpoints.
Laser boat that can't boat anything bigger than 1 ton weapons, even then you'll only get a few.
Can have up to 12 micro lasers, but nobody uses those for a reason.
Will be excellent for landing gauss rounds and ppc projectiles on.
If it's unlucky to get striked, it's gonna hurt alot.
4 AMS variant that even if you have 4 AMS, you'll have next to nothing offense-wise.


Yep pretty DOA. Have fun with your paper mech while the rest of us wait for something remotely useful. (Sun Spider i guess? at least in the line-up we have).

It could have four hardpoints and be the size of a firestarter and it wont be DOA because of this:
90+65+65+20=240

The Howler will never be good in general even the 3 it's a wide mech with the most easy to isolate areas to shoot and so easy to disarm you better off making a new 20 ton light than having the Howler.

And wern't thwir a twitch stream showings it size relative to the commando?

Piranha allows Clanners to frontload 5 more tons in FP. It is gonna be a very popular FP mech, with 10 DPS (as much as IS Heavy) on a 20 ton frame.

There will be praise by people who fortunately drop against potatoes and wreck face. And there will be the rage from guys dropping against foes that can actually aim. This mech caters to people who wait and let others do the work to reap the kills.

4-5 tons should be enough ammo, unless enough means you have to be able to kill every enemy mech through front ct.
with 4 tons without skill nodes:
10000 rounds for LMG
8000 round for MG

~8 tons for weapons with minimum 10HS, can have 8x 1 ton weapons, wouldn't use more than 6 myself.

Because it has so many hardpoints might mix ERML and micros decently, to have range option and better duration/DPH weapons for melee.

??? It's thinner commando (from 1 stream in December) running 145,8 + possible speed tweak.
Average player will have issues hitting it with gauss/ppc if piranha pilot isn't standing still.

Life is tough for light mechs sometimes, but because it moves that 145,8+ KPH it can dodge strikes pretty easily.

4x AMS with 2 tons of ammo + ERLL, yeah pretty lame but then again AMS boats are pretty lame usually.

I talked about this and you can probably fit 16 micro lasers.
So, you fire them left right like a boxer and have almost 20 damage every time.
its not perfect, it will be squishy, it will explode and it doesnt have jumpjets, but the energy variant will hurt.
As for 12 LMGs:
Imagine it as a supporter. If ANYTHING on you gets cored, it will be gone in one second.

Why shouldn't it have enough ammo? When stripping the arms you should end up with about 8t of free tonnage.
12 MGs weight 3t so you have 5t left for ammo. For standard-mgs that's 10.000 bullets, 12.000 with skills.

That translates to a damage-potential of 1200 dmg against armor and even more against structure. What else do you want?
You can even install 3 lasers and still have 7200-8400 bullets left if you prefer more DPS and backup-weapons.
Or take light MGs for a whopping 9.000 - 15.000 bullets depending on your choice of energy weapons.

The only thing you can't boat with enough ammo are heavy MGs. But those would make the mech ridicolously OP anyway with their 16.8 DPS against armor, so it's better for the game that we can't do this. Posted Image

And for the laser-boat: Be creative. I have quite some ideas what to do with up to 15 energy-hardpoints on a fast mech, there are some interesting 0.5t options available. It will be hot of cause, similar to the Viper and you probably won't build something competitive, but i definitely see some very fun builds.

So in my opinion everything depends on how squishy the Piranha will turn out, but tonnage shouldn't be a problem to make it viable enough to at least have a blast playing it.

I'll be honest it was 50/50. It was going to be a troll post because of the nature of the thread, but some things do ring true lol. Gonna have fun annihilating these little buggers!
