I just got an Oculus Rift and I was thinking that it would be amazing if MWO could utilize this format. Instead of hitting a button to look around the cockpit, you just look around the cockpit. Just a thought

It runs with Headtrack IR.

Not sure what you'd need to do to get it to run with the VR, but...the game is already "half" way there.

The item of VR has been discussed in the forums quite a few times. Since the search function within the forum is practically nonexistent, you will have to google "mwomercs.com whateveryouwanttolookforintheforum" (without the " of course).

Bothomline at the moment is, that you would have to rely on additional software like VORPX, although there are issues with the headtracking forcebound to torso movement and (I am faintly suspecting rendering/game engine limitations) freelook not possible simultaneously with torso/Mech movement. And make no mistake, HOTAS joystick/trottle (or even pedals) are required to play MWO at that point. Having Oculus DK2 and Rift as well as the HP Mixed Reality Googles and playing around with them a lot, keyboard is not happening. And I kinda not see controlling a Mech with the Oculus (or Vive or MR) controllers (I so love the Oculus ones!) or the XBox Gamepad.

Here are some links on a few discussions regarding MWO and VR: There are of course many other dicussions going on on that topic, but they will only getting bigger and more with new and more affordable sets like Microsoft is trying to push with the Mixed Reality googles (that actually work surprisingly well with SteamVR). Interestingly the HBS Battletech Beta always kicks on my Oculus Software whenever I start it. Imagining I could play Battletech in VR mode gives me the fizzing sensation Posted Image. And looking at the footage of MW5, I am quite confident that this will go VR very much.

on the Oculus touch controllers. the left could control the movement and the right the torso. There are 4 triggers in all and each could be matched to a different weapon group. There are 4 buttons (6 if you count the joystick buttons) which could be for jump, air strike, artillery, uav, and cool shot.
