Which mechs would be the best candidates for a second hero? Any lore options?
I do see some issues with omnis because of the obvious issue with swapping in the new pods but that can be worked around to some extent.

TBH, I'd prefer more regular variants - as you know, there are many good variants missings for many chassis.

Well keep in mind we also got the upcoming sun spider and roughneck hero that most people are getting for free.
In all honesty it would be nice to have a choice of heroes when choosing one of a particular chassis, such as how the butter bee is a more missile based hero, whereas the jester is energy based. If you really wanted a hero mech of a certain chassis you could avoid being forced into particular builds.

The Phoenix Hawk also has two heroes, the Roc and Kuroi Kiri. I'm pretty sure it's the only 'Mech which had two heroes from day one.
I would love to see more heroes added for existing 'Mechs, especially ones which have a strong lore presence with multiple notable pilots. With a few exceptions (and I think we all know which ones), PGI has been pretty good about making the heroes different from, but not necessarily better than, the standard variants.
It would also be amazing if they would just go ahead and allow the (S) tag, camo, and bonus to be applied to any standard variant for a premium fee- or at least permit the tag to be freely assigned when pre-ordering Collector packs. For 2x the price of the standard pack, the purchaser really ought to be able to stick that tag on any of the included variants. It'd be a fairly uncomplicated thing to implement, since unique geometry for the Collector variant is evidently a thing of the past now (IIRC, the last time they did that was with the Urbie).

Both the Dragon heroes were released together.
But yes, with dynamic hardpoints constantly baffled why they don't offer both more heroes and more standard variants to get more value out of existing assets.

I'm a lot more interested in the Annual Hostage Program being scaled up and more variants being released. We're missing several Clan Busters, at the very least.

At least the double dragons and the cats have the type of hard points swapped. Looking at the hbks on how the GI was done it was a neat mix of the 4g and the 4j.

it makes them less valuable
some of the hero's that are on the sucky side it might be a good idea to have a second hero Mech

WTB Thunderbolt and Marauder with ballistic hardpoint in each side torso.
And a Marauder with missile hardpoint in each side torso.
And a Mad Dog with Prime's quirks and head mounted energy, yes.

Maybe one with a balistic slot or two. Or just more ppc ligthning womit, that would work too.

XL225 +1 DHS. Endo, FF, and near max armour gives about 8 tons and 12 slots to work with for weapons and other equipment. I'd like an MG Commando. Put eight of those things on there with two tons of ammo and two ERMLs and you got something that can cause some Mischief.
I'd be curious to see what they do with a second Hunchback hero. A two hunches with energy on one and ballistic on another could pack a hell of a punch. 6x HMG and 6x SL would be a hell of close quarters fighter. Add to it a LFE275 and you've got 90KPH speeds that can tear through any component at a moment's notice with some MLs as backup and plenty of armour and ammo to go around. Assuming that six in each Hunch might be a little too OP, a true ballistic hunch with 6 slots would be a nice option as well.
