What do you guys think of PGI making a second hero for all mechs? Currently only the Dragon (Fang & Flame) and the Catapult (Jester & Butterbee) have two.

Which mechs would be the best candidates for a second hero? Any lore options?

I do see some issues with omnis because of the obvious issue with swapping in the new pods but that can be worked around to some extent.

Feels like it would just add even more bloat to the system and make balancing harder. Plus, I imagine that PGI would feel too tempted to make some of those heroes be superior to the C-Bill variants similar to heroes like the Deathstrike.

I would not mind if the Hero Mechs were canonical or at least semi-canonically/canon-friendly (rumours, uncertain configurations etc.). But there are not many of them to be added...

TBH, I'd prefer more regular variants - as you know, there are many good variants missings for many chassis.

Well keep in mind we also got the upcoming sun spider and roughneck hero that most people are getting for free.

In all honesty it would be nice to have a choice of heroes when choosing one of a particular chassis, such as how the butter bee is a more missile based hero, whereas the jester is energy based. If you really wanted a hero mech of a certain chassis you could avoid being forced into particular builds.

The Phoenix Hawk also has two heroes, the Roc and Kuroi Kiri. I'm pretty sure it's the only 'Mech which had two heroes from day one.

I would love to see more heroes added for existing 'Mechs, especially ones which have a strong lore presence with multiple notable pilots. With a few exceptions (and I think we all know which ones), PGI has been pretty good about making the heroes different from, but not necessarily better than, the standard variants.

It would also be amazing if they would just go ahead and allow the (S) tag, camo, and bonus to be applied to any standard variant for a premium fee- or at least permit the tag to be freely assigned when pre-ordering Collector packs. For 2x the price of the standard pack, the purchaser really ought to be able to stick that tag on any of the included variants. It'd be a fairly uncomplicated thing to implement, since unique geometry for the Collector variant is evidently a thing of the past now (IIRC, the last time they did that was with the Urbie).

Both the Dragon heroes were released together.

But yes, with dynamic hardpoints constantly baffled why they don't offer both more heroes and more standard variants to get more value out of existing assets.

I would like to see some heroes that mirror the main loadouts of the mech, but still carry the +C-bill bonus. I like the Crab. It's a great mech, durable, and runs well with energy weapons. And then the hero...is some sort of wannabe-bushwhacker? When I want to play a Crab, I want to play a Crab.

Add-on (S) tags would probably be the easiest payday PGI ever made, if they did it. Even people who don't normally go for the premium content would likely want to at least upgrade their favorite 'Mech. I know there are about a dozen standard variants sitting in my hangar that I'd drive way more often if I could add that bonus to them.

I don't think we need a lot of duplicate heroes. Maybe a few lore ones for a lark, but certainly not every chassis.

I'm a lot more interested in the Annual Hostage Program being scaled up and more variants being released. We're missing several Clan Busters, at the very least.

Don't think it would be worth the effort. With omnis you can swap almost any weapon type you want so only the bonus applied to the 'main part' of the omni that makes it that type of variant. IS you have to make the hard points either unique, useful location, or different type without obsoleting the already existing variants.

At least the double dragons and the cats have the type of hard points swapped. Looking at the hbks on how the GI was done it was a neat mix of the 4g and the 4j.

Yeah mechs are always going to be a thing as long as it's their primary source of income.

having to many hero Mechs would be like printing to many dollar bills

it makes them less valuable

some of the hero's that are on the sucky side it might be a good idea to have a second hero Mech

Why not. I have 10k MC and nothing to spend them on.

WTB Thunderbolt and Marauder with ballistic hardpoint in each side torso.
And a Marauder with missile hardpoint in each side torso.
And a Mad Dog with Prime's quirks and head mounted energy, yes.

I would love a new Awesome hero. The Pretty Baby has too messy and awkward layout.
Maybe one with a balistic slot or two. Or just more ppc ligthning womit, that would work too.

We don’t need more heroes we need more camo patterns. If they want to sell unique variants with unique patterns and call them heroes I guess that works too. But I’m just here for the mechporn and frankly a lot of the hero patterns have been uninspiring of late. If they had more premium mechs that looked like, for example, the loyalty variants from this year (that Griffin is art) I’d buy em, but the whole “hero” designation does nothing for me.

Ballistic/Energy Commando pls.

XL225 +1 DHS. Endo, FF, and near max armour gives about 8 tons and 12 slots to work with for weapons and other equipment. I'd like an MG Commando. Put eight of those things on there with two tons of ammo and two ERMLs and you got something that can cause some Mischief.

I'd be curious to see what they do with a second Hunchback hero. A two hunches with energy on one and ballistic on another could pack a hell of a punch. 6x HMG and 6x SL would be a hell of close quarters fighter. Add to it a LFE275 and you've got 90KPH speeds that can tear through any component at a moment's notice with some MLs as backup and plenty of armour and ammo to go around. Assuming that six in each Hunch might be a little too OP, a true ballistic hunch with 6 slots would be a nice option as well.
