Why do people keep saying this? PGI has pretty much never followed the comp crowd's suggestions. Most of the bone-headed decisions are, in fact, the result of PGI trying to cater to the spud crowd.

Simply because its true. Do I need to remember you about these so called "round tables" and who got to say anything in it? And what we got out of these? And the "oh we detected some mechs overperform and to bring it back in line we nerf [insert whole line of weapons/chassis in here] so they are closer to the median" statements - while the nerfs seem to be random and unrelated, a good chunk of said data stems from the top teams and how they exploit things. Balancing by the top 5% is a bad idea in so many ways. Same is true for the opposite side of the spectrum of course.
Also lets not forget how they catered to some (or mostly, one) big group in the past allowing them to change sides and event rules.

i regret making an alt profile to use exclusively for the clans. i bought a few mech packs for them last year and now I never touch the account anymore. I'd rather play my IS profile and occasionally play a clan mech here and there on it. Also regret getting the Black Knight and Crab through the resistance packs. Loved the Black Knight on TT, loved it in the CCG, don't really like it for MWO. At least it looks better than it did on MW4..

I'm sure support can fix that for you.

Have you asked if they can transfer them over to your IS account, I reckon if the mechs are bought with the same details I guess technically there shouldn't be an issue? Not sure if they allow that sort of thing but could be worth asking.

Thanatos Pack.
Assassin Dark Death Hero was also a waste of money.

Yeah I wish I had skipped it too.

Right now use it in CW as a stealth MRM 30 capper.

Only thing I could think of doing with it.

If we're talking real-money / MC purchases, I didn't make alot of those..

One I do regret though, is the Deathstrike. Not because it isn't good.. it is.. And I made it work to a degree.. I regret this cose' Its not an LRM carrier, and I play most with LRMs, so I should have bought a lots-of-hours-played Hero mech with MC that I can mount LRMs on..

I should have bought a Spirit Bear and loaded it up with LRMs.. would play it more often than I play the Deathstrike..

Now, if I wanna play a Hero, I have to switch playstyles, and it's a pain.

BlackNight is amazing skirmisher.he has hit-boxes of enforcer, is agile, has good alpha. The only mechs dying with less XP are MAD family and small crabs.

I regret the Night Gyrs at most, bought all of them and sold all of them(except hero) two days ago.
Second one was the Origins IIC pack, mostly garbage at release, today i sometimes have fun with the Highlander with dual balistic HP.
Third one are the Kodiaks. Not because of the 3(never played id that much and rarely the UAC10 boat), because of how garbage my beloved Spirit Bear is these days.

IIRC I paid $75 for my Phoenix Hawks. In retrospect that's a batsh*t crazy price for a bunch of pixel 'mechs, of which all but one would've been free 3-4 months later. Applies for all top tier 'mech packs I guess, it's just a lot of money.

Been a lot more frugal since then ... only individual heroes during -50% sales.

Using 6500MC to purchase an Atlas AS7-K in 2012 when I was just starting out.. Posted Image

I still have it tho, as I don't have the heart to sell my Mechs. I probably should, just to free up a Mech bay..

Thanatos, bought the 5 mech pack, the ballistic torso one is passable at best and the rest are utter trash.

Ghillie was a waste too, too slow to flank properly and stealth is useless on such a mech.

It isn't true, though.

1. There was only ever one Competitive round table and, had you watched it, you would have seen what a farce it was. PGI just used that forum to announce MWOWC17 to the teams, announce the comp queue, and discussed f*ck all about the gameplay. When one person tried to move the conversation that way he was shut down by PGI, who said they would hold a second discussion later for that. Predictably, that never happened.

2. The other round tables were FP-oriented, and comp players do not really do FP. Mercstar, who dominated the discussions, are not a comp unit. They weren't even a single unit unto themselves back then, either. And you know what? PGI didn't really listen to them much, either. When they did, it wasn't the ideas that were bad, it was PGI's interpretation and execution. Escort got pitched around as an asym mode, but not how PGI implemented it.

3. I don't recall most comp players calling for nerfs to one item. I distinctly remember calls for buffs to other competing items. Buffs to MGs, buffs to IS lasers, buffs to PPCs, buffs to ACs, buffs to Small lasers other than the cSPL, buffs to isXL...but PGI always went the other way because the Brown Sea and certain Twitter critters demand "LONGER TTK NAO!" Extending HGauss range to 220 meters was the only direct competitive feedback implemented in recent memory, and that was only half of the suggested buff to 270 meters.

And don't abuse the word "exploit." An exploit is taking advantage of a known heat bug to keep firing without penalty while at 99%. Comp players do not do this. All they do is recognize a strong build and use it optimally. That is the game PGI made, and if it is making it un-fun through certain optimal combos savaging everything else then that is what PGI has to fix.

I've enjoyed most of the mechs I've bought. People are saying Spirit Bear, but it was great for a few months until nerfing.

But the Thanatos....

That thing was never good. That purchase was a slap in the face. People say we should have known by looking at it before it was released. But you never really know until a mech is in-game how it'll play.

The Thanatos is by far the worst mech I've purchased, out of well over 100 mechs. Thing needs some armor or hitbox improvements.

Never see them on the battlefield at all.

Surprisingly enough, I'm not really regretting my purchases, even though I've bought a Spirit Bear, a Boar's Head, and various other mechs. I had money when I went to buy them that was just sitting around without purpose, even with the huge nerfs to many of the mechs, at least I got some fun out of them.

I always think back to one time at the beach years ago when I paid like 50 dollars for ride at some amusement park that was this huge sling shot. The ride itself only lasted probably a minute, but I got to see pretty much the whole city from above then plummet right down to it, a nice experience with some perks of bragging rights to the people who wouldn't ride it because they were afraid. Normally I'd hate to waste so much money on something that physically is so little, but my grandfather had given me some for the trip and asked that I have a good time with it, so I did.

Why regret little things?
