Ugh...

Considering the era we are in, I'm okay with them not using the Owens, Strider and Avatar... All three of those have significant issues...

Raptor is good
Men Shen is good
Black Hawk KU is good
Templar / Hauptmman / Sunder could all be solid

If I didn't have to worry about tech level / era:

Raptor
Centurion Omni
Black Hawk KU
Templar III

If thats the case, than PGI is deliberately butchering format to make real speculation impossible. Which begs the question why they even bothered, and why anyone should care.

Going with that, and avoiding the WoB Celestial mechs ('cause a lot of them need new tech that is not in game yet), it leaves us with the following units:

Grand Crusader
Toyama
Buccaneer

Now taking those three, we can ignore the Buccaneer right away due to the reliance on melee with it. The Toyama would need a ton of PGI varaitns, as it has few variants, and those two variants use things like C3i, VSMPL or an XLGyro. So that leaves us with the Grand Crusader, now the Grand Crusader does have some issues, two of the variants makes use of C3i, but it does give us 4 variants (two not counting the C3i units) that are all a little different from one another, a good thing. So if PGI is planning on the Grand Crusader, I'd like to have the regular Crusader first...

well i said it may be, im not 100% sure, many of the FWDI mechs need new tech,
also if those lines are centered than it cant be FWDI, so theirs that as well,

If you ever wonder why they sell mechpacks and don't ever develop the game - this thread is a perfect example.

Indeed, they are bad at developing the game, but also as soon as they tease their player base with a new toy (wanna buy a mech pack anyone?) almost everybody start losing their mind and forgot about the glaring issues of this game, willing to throw money at the screen for a new centerfold mech.

After all, the mech porn is one of the few things that remains good, and even this is questionable in the light of the last mech releases...

You'll get no argument from me - The Mechwarrior and Battletech fanbase has a depressing tendency to lose its mind over the shiny.

So basically replace EA with PGI and substitute new video game releases with mechpacks in this video. It's scary how accurate it is.

Because they can be bad at it, deliver poor balance and un-fun modes and have a fair portion of the playerbase in an uproar about it - then make a vague announcement for a new mech and at least half the most vocal people are in full on "sell me anything that resembles a mech" mode.

It doesn't even make sense for them to spend any time on any sort of development of the game when all they have to do is hint new art assets and people can't throw money at them fast enough.

I wasn't looking for an argument with you ;), I just quoted sycocys and you because both post are in my opinion the root of the problem with this game: PGI is a bad developer and the MW/BT playerbase usually forgive anything, because the "it's the only MW/BT game" mindset makes them to keep supporting the game even after years of lies, until someone realize that this game is not going to be what was advertised at the beginning and his interest on the game start to decline. And after a while he leaves, but in the meantime he has poured $ in PGI bank account, perpetuating PGI ineptitude, because if everybody is giving them money, everything should be all right, no?

With a less enthusiastic playerbase this game should have shut down their servers long ago...

The Toyama doesn't have enough legal variants to qualify unless they butcher the 1B and 1C canon loadouts.

PGI makes up variants nowadays, that's not an issue anymore.

IS omnis locked to XL engines will be the laughing stock of their respective weight classes.

The Owens would be fine with XL because it's a light mech, but it would not be fine with SHS, Standard Structure, or Standard Armor...

The Strider has a STD and would definitely not be fine at all because of also having SHS, Standard Armor, and double hardlocked useless CASE (but hey at least you get Endo).

Raptor would definitely be fine, period. Kinda slow for a 25-ton gundam but it has the hardpoint placement and quantities to make up for it (lol 11 lasers).

I'd argue that the Raptor (light) would be alright and the Black Hawk KU (Heavy, 10t larger Nova) would be alright as well... The Avatar has serious issues with the hit boxes, namely large flat ST's from the front making for an easy XL check.

I take back my previous comment, the 1B could be implemented with a standard gyro instead of a compact and the iC3 could be swapped out with an ECM and one ton of armor.

For some reason I never expected the wobbies to insist on a compact gyro while mounting nothing in the CT and having free slots elsewhere. Talk about needless expense.

Compact Gyro does have the TT benefit of making your Gyro less likely to be critically hit, but probably not worth it unless you actually plan to use those slots.
