What game was that?

Mechcommander 2. Maybe 12+ years since I played but I remember long toms being a weapon for the blood asp in that game and they were fun.

I can't remember fully but I believe in mc2 long tom's were introduced into the story as a blood asp loaded weapon. You could fit them in other mechs but you got them with the blood asp.

I wonder if by adding this mech they're signaling inclusion of new tech. I remember the BA using the long tom weapon system at least in game. Not sure if that's cannon or if cannon really matters at all.

No build on Sarna has that, even in the Apocryphal section. Maybe something you put together in Mechcommander II or in MW4 mech tech expansions.

It looks like Alex took inspiration more from the MA2 design than the original.

But that doesn't bother me one bit, look like a solid mech, but a double edge sword seeing the torsos gonna be huge plus those highmounts not gonna help that much, gonna say it's gonna be around the second best clan assault behind the MCMKII, IDK if I want the collectors, one hand the camo is clearly taken from MA2 during the WoB Coliseum mission, on the other hand I don't want another prime clone.

Do what I did with all of my collector variants... sell the normal version and keep the +30% c-bill variants.

No no there is no power creep...

My only hope is that these long side torsos act like rails to crit the gauss. If not then the deathstrike will look like a little kitty compared to the dual gauss with no convergence issues and ecm.

Those cannons will definitely be ST hitboxes, MWO isn't like MW4 where sometimes big gun pods get to be separate.

Might as well get nice little extra cash from it.

Just looking at that pic reminds me of the Uziel, i wonder if the Asp itself will inherit the ST hitbox of doom.

Likely, but she'll be in slightly better shape, thanks to the cXL vs isXL.

As I said a few pages ago, those high mounts will be a liability in hill humping.

Also in torso twisting because odds are you can shoot them even if you twist the mech.

I see Mad Cat MKII like legs... hope it moves not like one.

To be fair, it's an improvement over the original design. The lack of ankles would've made it difficult if not impossible to create a walking animation.

Correct, which means, mounting gauss in there or any ballistic, assuming those pods don't appear when using energy...you'll get your torsos ripped off very easily.

This phenomenon is already existent on the MKII, with its tiny ears, more so with this thing with those rails protruding out like that. You cannot twist enough to hide those railguns, which means they will absorb a lot of damage.

It is very noticeable how much more squishy the MKII is over the Supernova. This thing, if those mounts are present, will be more fragile than the MKII.

Looks cool though...but it won't be better than the MKII, probably worse TBH.

If you already have a MKII, there isn't a point in buying this thing.

EDIT: also...it appears to have a locked engine...well that stinks.

But I like the Blood Asp *cries in corner of the room*

Also it's an omnimech of course the engine would be locked...

Itll be a poor man's deathstrike, but with the obvious downside of torso gauss rifles. better at firing, but far worse when it gets shot at and pretty much a free kill for anything that gets MGs behind it for a split second.

I still feel that the deathstrike will remain the dominant gauss vomit mech (up to the time that PGI decided to destroy that combo in some way which is quite likely), but this will at least be competitive and could potentially have better weapon convergence (biggest issue for me with teh MCII-1 is the arms sometimes cant hit small targets with both rifles if its moving sideways). Still, the lack of customized engine (which is what made the deathstrike that good as it can do anything from the XL-350 to the 375 well) is a downside and while most meta MCII builds use the xl360, the ability to choose really is a nice benefit (not to mention edo/ferro choices and moveable slots).

I’d likely get it for the shoulder mounts alone...
