I sure do. A single MRM30 is always a better choice than a single MRM20 and a single MRM10.

I'm not as certain of this. While a 30 count of MRMs on a Cyclops is absolutely a bad idea, doesn't 20+10 have a somewhat significantly lower spread than one 30? If you can cram them all in the same section without compromising geometry or convergence, the additional 1 heat seems paltry to having a little more focused damage. Albeit there are only a few instances where running a build like that would be an option on the table, mostly with things like the Hellspawn.

I pilot the cougar and panther, yet I've never had someone complain about my choice of mech

Yup, but that's due to me playing down in the pit of T4 with fun lore builds or Super Stock builds... You know playing for fun. I did my time with Comp Drops, facing organized teams, fought against some of the better players and teams... found it no very fun and it often didn't work with my life outside of MWO... So now I just ignore those tools that try to tell me how I should build and play.

But but but Bandito, you know I deal monstrous damage sniping, damage that is almost on par to you Posted Image

Hey you jumped the gate on Sulpherous defense and came up behind me in an Assassin and took me out in two shots.

I was impressed. Good on you, taking out at completely fresh Hellbringer before even getting a chance to fire any weapons.

Even asked Tanner if you were one of the purple chickens he was working with (he said no, he didn't know you), and why the rest of em weren't bringing sensible stuff and playing like you.

Keep up the good work, using a mech that can kill instead of how some prefer to run around in a stealth Commando doing nothing.

Look forward to seeing you out there....I am gunning for you now though Posted Image

I remember the time a salty puglord started having a go at me for daring to run the most godawful build imaginable: 2x ER PPCs in high shoulder hardpoints on a Linebacker! THE HORROR!!!

While there are a lot of people running terrible builds out there, it is hilarious to be chewed out for running a build that is definitely not bad.

There is a difference between running a sub-optimal build and one that is flat out useless or entirely ineffective. For instance, the OP's build might not be optimal, but it would work for a casual player. A comp player is likely to rebuild that Mech to have more DPS and a higher alpha.

I wouldn't say that someone criticizing your build makes them "wrong", however. It's just not an optimal build as far as loadout is concerned.

Bad builds that should always be things in the realm of 4 LRM 15 Mauler with an XL engine, Spirit Bear with 4 ALRM 15's, a UAC10 and 2 ER LL, Atlas with LRM's and an XL engine, King Crab with LRM's and ER Large Lasers, LBX 2 Dire Wolf.

OP, you need to understand the difference between good, bad and sub-optimal builds, and I think that's where someone being critical of you missed the mark, your build wasn't optimal as far as the weapons you chose, but it isn't horrible either. I have seen WAY worse!

Yes, commonly. I also have people offer ideas in constructive ways. I normally ride in a Cou-C toting laser vomit w/ a 76 pt alpha. Many people hate the cougar because of its lack of speed on a light chassis.

In my opinion, the reason people ***** is because they dont understand your play style. My thoughts? Good thing they arent driving then.

You missed the real question too. Why would you bring MRM's to fight fast, nimble, highly mobile lights? They suck against lights.

Ot: in normal circumstances i dont say anything about a build i watch playing, dosnt matter how yku have build it. But at sunday i have to. A Victor with 3 ALRM, nothing else. Of course he was one of two last friendlies at a 10:10(second was a Spider) and we lost just because that stupid didnt bring some backup weapons. As he was running out of ammo his armor was brandnew(-.-) but nothing to do with all these shiny metal D:
This weekend was strange anyway, way to much lurmassaults out there.

Player experience may vary?

I know if you are in a Piranha or Mistlynx, you want to go no where near my mrm 60 IV4.

Not a light hunter by any stretch, but certainly the stream of missiles is no worse for defending yourself or shooting one off your buddies with one than srm's.

Mistlynx are particularly easy to peel off arms while running mrm's.

Even have had success running a stealth Dark Death with mrm 30 in CW conquest.

To the Op...

have you tried the Cyclops 10Q with the following...

335 LFE (60.3 kph pre-tweeking very respectable for an I.S. 90 tonner)
14 DHS (33% heat efficiency without skills)
Endo steel
Light ferro armor
16 points of armor shaved off (legs for 6 each head for 4 or if you build for "deadsiding" legs and LA)
SSRM6 w/ 1 ton ammo + BAP
2x MRM 20 w/ 4 tons ammo
2X Lrg pulse lasers

It's a slight variation on your build but with a more symetrical loadout. or potential for a right side dominated "peeker" leaving your left to shield with.

And...yes I have had some builds that had teammates going "WTF" recently it was Night Gyr with 4x LB5X w/ 210 rnds ammo and 2X ER mediums a Clan LAP fills the last half ton.

One of my team's early casualties was asking why not UACs. "LB5's are complete garbage tier weapons use UACs!" is how he phrased it I believe...

My reasoning was this build is an endurace brawler meant to out DPS it's foe by simply having high rate of fire coupled with a low heat build. UACs would compromise this design by ...

A generating more heat thus reducing endurance
B jamming and reducing the reliable constant fire rate of the LB5s.
C replacing the single front loaded shot of the LB5s with bursts fire UAcs reducing snapfire and defesive options.

And of course the most important of all...I already have a UAC boat Night Gyr B.

Did you not see that video where TheB33f ran that exact thing, and the look of pure happiness on his face as he fire control macro blasted folks? The LB2X Dire Wolf may not be a good build, but anything that makes anyone that happy cannot be all bad.

Your build:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9dba331a0b125f2

What I would run:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...960051c30a54466

My justifications:

- Don't need pulses on a build that is designed around facing your enemy for such long periods of time, standard Large Lasers are much more optimal

- 360 isn't worth the extra tonnage over a 350 (2.5 tons for 1.8KPH)

- 3 Machineguns are not worth it, you need at least 5-6 and they require too much facetime, you need to torso twist while your MRMs cooldown

- Better to run the lasers in one arm and armordump the other one

- Given the amount of ammunition you're running on your MRM30, with the tonnage savings from the equipment I'm suggesting, you could run MRM60 and still have the same ammo levels. I think you might bring less tubes and more ammo, but I don't have enough experience with MRMs to say for sure.

- My build has vastly higher alpha strike, and is better off if you lose the MRM torso as you still have both lasers.

Ultimately, whether or not you bring MRM20+MRM10 or MRM30 is really irrelevant. The bigger issue here is you're bringing LMGs on an assault, your engine is not optimized, and you missed an opportunity to armordump.

I don't much care about your hurt feelings when someone criticises your mech, but please don't pretend your build is very good, because it isn't, it's average at best.

meh...people ***** and moan about my LRM 60 madgod, which has no other weapons on it...until I break 800 dam and 3 kills, simultaneously saving our side probably 2 mechs in our initial engage.

Or I'm the last mech standing with 1000+ and people sub 100 complain about it. End of the day, if you lose it's your fault, no use blaming other people you can't control.

Thanks for the compliment BCMC guy (yes I know your BCMC name). Having dropped with and against BCMC I am aware that the average skill level of a BCMC is pretty high, hence you were a priority target.

Looking forward to see you on the battlefield too, either on the same or opposite side, as I have a clan loyalist account that definitely dropped with you on that same weekend.

Great! Then perhaps you know we are on Comstar TS?

Feel free to drop by. We only ask you to make room if a BCMC member needs a spot.

Two builds I saw in the same battle recently made me facepalm: a Piranha with a single large pulse laser and a Summoner with 4x Streak SRM2 and an ATM12.

Just...

There's a difference between 'suboptimal' and 'outright bad' builds, and those two fall into the later category.

Yeah, I remember getting those comments while I was doing 700 damage/battle average in my dual ER PPC Summoner.

Dont know mate. If your opponent is a competent light pilot he isnt running in straight lines and you will probably land 5 missles out of your 30. Bad trade. IF you can land a volley, yeah that hurts these little buggers but its rarely seen :/
The best weapons for hunting lights are Pulselaser, LB-AC and Streaks(wich i dont use). I am even more succesfull with SRMs compared to MRMs.

I can quite honestly say I see absolutely no way to improve that.
