It's not the mode although it in itself has some issue's.
People are basically lazy and don't want to play something that involves.
Actually using the old noodle.
Which explains the sometimes astoundingly bad matches in QP.
And pug groups complaining about the slaughter in FW.

Here's my trouble with escort: If the attackers, all 12 of them, wait in cover and then run up to the VIP point blank and empty into its torso, you lose. Much more frequently than 50% of the time.

And on the other hand if the 'defenders' bunch up and charge towards them ahead of the ViP then they usually win. Every time I see the defenders lose they are always behind the ViP instead of ahead of him.

Sounds like an awesome, highly strategic game mode. Who balls up and flings themselves at the other team first?

And if you both do it at the same time: 50/50 odds of winning, straight blood bath.

My thoughts exactly. People try to increase their multiplier and eventually enough vote in the same match that it wins and becomes the match mode.

Maybe the multiplier should go for modes?

@Novakaine: Actually on these forums your defining characteristic is love of lurms. The pervasive ECM makes your primary passion more difficult even on open maps.

I hope you are aware of the irony of being both pro-objective and pro-lurm.

Bit more nuanced than that, but essentially yah. Better than skirmish (circle around the map killing the slowest of the other team then keep circling till you kill more until the side with less mechs decides to turn around then loses because numbers), conquest (light hunting simulator 2015), and Invasion (rush to enemy base simulator 2017).

And, add to the fact that Incursion and Escort have the same map pool, you see those enabled maps more often

Because it is one of two modes that is least likely to turn into standard nascar brawl, but that is also its biggest weakness, the problem is not the mode, the problem is the playerbase, we are conditioned to Nascar, and then a mode comes along when your supposed to do something else, the common poetaetoe cant cope.

I vote for it because it raises my multiplier much more often than not. The funny thing is, once I have a x12 multiplier, I really don't have anything to use it on. I don't really care what mode gets played they all lead to the same play more or less.

And that's the fun of the mode. You only ever see it again in Domination on some maps.



^ he said it better than me, coz a brawl focus targets is more fun than , who has more fast mechs that can catch the tail of the other team 1st.

The AI is not great, the roots the AI takes is not always great but in truth I have just played a game where the VIP Mech decided to go across the bridge on River City, OK it is exposed, and it is not ideal but the only mech that were there to defend it was a myself in a wolfhound and somone in a MAD-IIC. Everyone else was at the Citadel poking people across the bay it was hilarious. The point is the game is so predicated on Kills and Damage that nothing else matters it seem. Strategy is not really something that the player base seems to like to do. Every mode turns into skirmish, or nascar skirmish

Yes Escort is badly executed but too many times I see players collectively being so tunnelled vision that they are not interested in defending or attacking the VIP mechy

I like Escort..

That said the implementation of it in this game is garbage, i really like Mechcommander version of escort as well.

Because PGI uses it to force other game mode: that's why it always comes in pair with Incursion or Conquest. Reason, why it's being voted for sometimes? Noobs don't know, what it is or, that is more likely, you know, just for lulz - some people just like to troll others. And it's actually lottery - ending on attacker side means free win. Some people like to risk.

It's still in the game because it costs money, staff and time to remove it and PGI doesn't have it to spend. NOR, would they ever actually listen to their customers.......after all, you'all keep buying any and everything they offer so, in their opinion, all is well....
