Now a days the young'ins get to run it a bit faster with the LFE. Also save weight with large layzors due to the lg pulse being trash.

I mean... you can run LFE for extra speed, but a good chunk of that is lost when one of your sides pop so it kinda defeats the purpose. Also we can agree to disagree on LPL since they're still fine as is imo, in fact they pair well with ERML.

So far this bucket of bolts falls apart at every turn.... its like no matter how much i twist (merrygoroundmode) one ST gets popped instantly.
Definitely not a tanky mech!

Good agility, you have to twist damage relentlessly to get tankiness.
3LPL and 3 ERML with Light 300 works reasonably well for me with this mech.
It's decent but not overwhelming.

2HLL+4ERML in a hellbringer is better overall... but when I want IS laservomit the Hotdog is ok.

Add ferro and endo and you can run max armor, a std 360, and DHS. It's legit.

What are your armor values? That may have something do to with it. Also if you skill tree structure it stacks adding more HP.

A thing to note for T-Bolts is you want to spread as much damage to the arms as possible, not so much across your STs and CT. Arm tank until it falls off, then start spreading across the front if you can't get the other arm out. Kind of like what you would do for a Centurion for a visual aid.

I run mine with 6xMPL, 1XSnubPPC and a LFE300 and so far it's pretty great.

I am sorry you don't find it tanky. Objectively it is the most agile and buff of the T-bolts. I play all my Thunderbolts regularly(minus the 5S) and get very solid results.

I did manage #17 on the Top Dog leaderboard, but that was many metas ago. http://mwomercs.com/...ts?t=201507hero

If you want to last longer you can always use the high mounts for triple or quad ER large sniping. I run a triple ER large with boated smalls using a 285 STD. Seems to do fine.

Unless you have already maxed out the skill tree I believe any criticisms to be premature at this point.

Top Dog is really solid. The agility makes it a joy to pilot and easy to spread damage. I run mine with a silly 8 ML build and all the single heat sinks (I was trying to come up with a decent single HS build). Broke 1k damage first time out in it.

It is largely reliant on quirks though, like most good IS mechs, so...

@Darky: The 9SE is well worth it, especially for only 3.5 million on sale. Easily my most used Thunderbolt. You can deliever a moderate level of damage for days and days owing to the heat quirks.

You need not keep the jump jets.

My T-bolts

5S = super stock
9S = 300 LFE, 2x LPLAS, 3x mlas, 2x AMS, 18 DHS
9S = 260 STD, 6x ermlas, 2x SRM6, 2x mg, BAP, 2x AMS, 17 DHS
9SE = 285 STD, 2x LPLAS, 3x mlas, 19 DHS
9SE = 295 LFE, 3x LPLAS, 18 DHS
5SS = 300 STD,6x mplas, 1x mlas, 20 DHS
5SS = 300 STD, 6x mplas, 1x AMS
TD = 285 STD, 3x ERLLAS, 5x slas, TC2, 17 DHS

I bought TOP DOG to replace my old TDR5-SS.....Compared to the rest of the thunderbolts, its greatly superior for having 5 high mounted, near cockpit level energy points. My old Thunderbolt (a good energy boat) had only two. The other thing that made him better is having 8 energy points in the side torsos which helped making more efficent energy boat by stripping arms for extra tonnage space.

I don't usually consider heroes better compared to a choice standard, but TOP DOG clearly is, and that's just ignoring the quirks.

Thx Spheroid.
FOr now this build seems to work out for me:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5f0cd7011fca79e
Starting to like it! Although i still think hitboxes are too easy to pickoff.
Il wil also try the 9SE before deciding on the hero.

In reading this post, I knocked off the dust on my TOP DOG:

1. Its fun
2. good hit and move platform
3. respectable damage
4. Heat management is good
5. respectable speed
6. can take some damage, although not a full on brawler

Over all..me likie

*best technique is juts a hit...move...get behind cover or follow a heavy and as enemy concentrates on the big brother, you zap them

4xMPLS
5xERML
