My dell i3 all-in-one potatoe played its final drop. Im ballin on a shoestring budget yall. Im guessing My old hp p6 witg fm2 socket quadcore a6 @2.3ghz igpu and 8gb of ram has no chance in hell of running mwo even at 600x800 res, tweaked user.cfg (thank u narcbait, ur the only reson ive been able to play for the past year on my i3 ) and a dedicated gpu....

SOOOOO

I need a cheap rig asap.

Im use to playing at 600x800 res and graphix stripped to the max on my ratchet i3

And was thinking "hey, maybe if i get another cheap premade desktop, BUT with a new-er (hahahaha) beefier cpu (maybe even oc-able?...) and a couple gb more ram (8 gb total) maybe i can still get my dakka dakka on?

My last rig that just shat out :dell inspiron one 2330 6gb ram 1tb i3

What im considering (or along these lines):https://m.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Alienware-Aurora-R4-Desktop-PC-i7-4820K-3-7GHz-3TB-Win-8-1-DVD-RW-GTX-690/232663308707?hash=item362bd059a3:g:yhoAAOSw07VagbX-

Any input is appreciated

Thnk u in advance

You can probably find a budget/refurb in the $300 range. Something in the 3rd-4th gen intel range would be minumally feasible.

Add a 250gb ssd for OS and MWO, keep the stock drive for storage.

Get a 1050Ti card for around $150, it requires no additional power so it shouldn't be a load on your stock psu.

Not awesome, bit could be done for around $500 if no monitor or OS needed.

That 4th gen I7 would do great for you, like MovinTarget said, pair it with a 1050Ti, the SSD would be a good addition too.

I just updated my old Phenom955 a while ago and spent less than $600 using the old peripherals, drives, etc.

Microcenter is usually running a sale on ryzen processors where you can get $30 off a compatible board, which means you can pick up a bare-bones A320 from most companies for under $30.

It helps if you don't have a aversion to open box/returns as well, you can pick up upgrades from there for sometimes no extra cash than you intended to lay out.

GPU is gonna be a pain though. EVERYTHING is overpriced now. don't matter if it's team green, or team red, they're all marked up... the 1050TI that has been mentioned(I'm running one now, a MSI 1050TI Gaming4, great budget card) is running about $50-90 higher than it was 6 months ago when they were constantly on sale around here.

If your looking to spend less than $200, I can't say I would ever go that route. I get money tight, but i've never had luck buying old second hand stuff like that. YMMV though.

oh wow, I just checked NewEgg and you aren't kidding... 1050Ti has really gone up :(

Still, I think *any* "Ti" GPX will not add load to your PSU so you could even go with a 750Ti, it just won't be as dramatic an improvement.

Yup, various blahblahcurrencies has even started to crunch into team Green's prices now.

Sadly, I had the $$ for a Vega64 on release, but was unwilling to spend $200 more than MSRP on it. Took a gamble that it would go down by now, and lost that one lol...\

As for improvement, I don't think OP has actually said what it was using. Unless it's a on board GPU, then at that point, I got a half dozen cards I could mail him and be better off, lol.

Intel Core i3-8350K Coffee Lake Quad-Core but true, this is the first time Intel is marketing i3 as a quad core now..

The OP could have gone with an office machine HP Elite 8300 SFF- Intel Core i5-3570@3.4GHz 8gigs ram for approx $115 then add a GTX 1050 low profile $120ish. I did that with at backup machine with intent on giving to my bro-in-law since the system he is using is ancient and may not hold up for much longer. When I got it to try it out with the 1050 I was prepared to do some slight modifications to add a higher rated extra PSU I have available if need be. I love making square pegs to fit into round holes.

Running it and my main computer for MWO and no issues with it yet.

I'd look at putting money into a 1050TI then ( or earlier 7xx/9xx TI model if the price suits more ) .... careful about buying them on ebay etc ... ive seen very good results @ 1080p/60fps with them, and would make a reasonable 'step' replacement rather than buying a whole system .... still be worthwhile dropping into a new system in the next year or two .... the low power draw will translate to low heat generated, and not using the terribad integrated GPU will ease any thermal issues on the CPU and potentially give you some room to overclock it ....

could probably update my user.cfg stuff, as its been pretty stable (unchanged) for a while ... it just depends, on how low you want to go ....

As previously mentioned the days of sub $200 1050Ti prices are gone... for now... it may still be the best modern "cheap" option, but not as cheap as it used to be...

while it may not be as cheap as it used to be, the prices at my local store are from $250 to $320 AUD, and in USD that would be $210 to $250 ... the 10 series seems to scale pretty well for resolution ...

the 1050 is great for 1080p
the 1060 is great for 2K
the 1070 is great for 4K
the 1080 is great for, wankers .... VR maybe ? 8K is probably asking a bit much of one .... but then it would depend on the efficiency of the game ...

it is a strange period in time, when things purchased a year or so ago, have either increased in value, or maintained parity ....

Something to consider: The Ryzen APUs with Vega onboard now exist. This is probably a pretty good option on a super tight budget. They should be good for 1080p at low to medium settings. Looks like AVADirect might be the only premade with one available right now, but that will change pretty quickly probably.

GPU wise, Newegg has Gigabyte GTX1050 2GB for 149.99
https://www.newegg.c...N82E16814125919

Not bad but the reviews are good.

If youre looking for a 4GB version, then Gigabyte's GTX 1050Ti for 229.99
https://www.newegg.c...N82E16814125913

I know the price is a bit beefier but should be a better performer.

TBH, no matter where you look, except for resale of used (i shutter at those), you cant find decent priced GPUs. Hell, i am having a hard time finding another 6796-K3 Posted Image

UPDATE*

so i come up on a Biostar a760g m2+ motherboard; AMD phenom II x4 805; 4gb kingston hyperx ddr2 ram, antec 430watt psu. from what ive ggathered(and correct me if im wrong) but it seems the Phenom II is not only clocked higher than my a6-3620 but also has more potential to OC?

AND

apperantly my local Fry's electronics will return any GPU within 30 days of its purchase so long as you have all the original packaging and the reciept.......sooooooo......

is there even a point in slapping a 4gb gtx1050ti on either of my rigs (a6-3620; 8gb ddr3 or biostar a760g m2+ MOBO w/ phenom II x4 805; 4gb ddr2) and if so how much more of a performance boost are we talking? my 3620 with integrated graphics struggles to hold 20fps @ 1024x720 maxs out at 24-ish(VERY unstable) @600x800 resolution with a custom user.cfg. all i want is 30fps solid @ 1600x900 w/ low settings, any thing else is icing on the cake.

also, if anyone has an old gpu laying around hit me up, ill compensate lol

if your only planning to play @ 1080p, (or under as you indicate) then the 1050ti is probably a slight overkill, but only slight, and thats really where you want to be, in frames-per-second games anyway .... I run my 1060 @ a 3K resolution that suits my screen and eyes, but I recently messed with a friends 7 series i7 laptop with a 1050ti, and I was quite impressed with it, at the 1080p screen resolution of that laptop ... and being a laptop, in theory it should be perform worse than a discreet card will ....

hey, if you want a free graphics card, you could run with the ebay scams .... you'll have some paypal $ tied up in it for a few days, but when you inform/prove to ebay that the item received, is not what was advertised, you'll get your money back, err, generally ... theres at least 100 youtube video's about the topic .... but, anything you get, will probably have 10% of the power the 1050ti will, and use more power .... like, higher cost of the stuff you draw out of the wall, converted into heat, for your convenience ...

I wouldnt recommend less than the 1050ti at an 'entry level' for gaming, putting it with either CPU will make a game run better ... how much better is hard to put a number on from over here ... but I'd expect you to be much less frustrated while saving $ again to buy a replacement CPU etc ....

the 1050ti doesnt have much room for overclocking etc, because its pretty close to its limits from the factory, by default ... but will generally be 2x the performance of a 1030 .... and, if you want to play games, your probably really going to want a 4gb version as a minimum .... 2gb can run out pretty quickly depending what the engine decides to do with it ...

this probably makes a really informative comparison - http://gpu.userbench...-6GB/3649vs3639

Besides, your PSU is 430 watts, 1050ti won't put much of an additional load as opposed to most other modern cards. It is also very cheap compared to other modern cards for the power it offers out of the box.
