What's so good about it?
Price is OK, but loadouts are pretty universally MEH.

Mad Dog looks OK, and I like the Kraken's camo. That ain't 30$ worth for me. The Urbie is a fricking travesty.

It definitely is a good amount of bang for the buck. 7 mechs + bays + misc. swag for $30 is not bad at all compared to other mech packs.

The Atlas, hard point wise, however, it's strictly inferior similar to the Atlas D (one extra arm energy hardpoint at the cost of the questionable 2nd ballistic slot in the right torso). We'll have to see what quirks do.

The Griffin looks like a interesting variation on the 1S.

The Rifleman... Just has weirdly asymmetrical arm hardpoints.

At first I missed the different engine cap on the Urbie, good catch, Bombast.

The Mad Dog... Ok, look, Mad Dog is one of the few clan mechs I genuinely enjoy, and I really hope they didn't give it that fugly MW4 chin-turret. And while I won't go so far as to call it P2W for having 2 CT energy points (not unarguably best option at it's tonnage or less, not best option in weight class), I will say that based on that alone it's looking to be the most optimal Mad Dog.

The Firestarter is a weird little animal. Very similar to the Ember, but with the ballistics moved to the arms, and the energy moved to the torso in the same arrangement as the FS9-A's torso energy points.

The Banshee... is a weird clustering of hardpoints with jump jets thrown in. I don't even know what to think of it.

As for Solaris itself... How many Dire Stars can we expect to see?

Probably a lot more since there will more than likely be a bracket that it might excel in.

It could be interesting.

Wow do they all kinda suck or are too generic. The only one remotely worth considering is the Mad Dog. With pod swapping you'll be able to run 2 HLL + 6 cERML with 24 doubles. For reference the Ebon with the same build can run 23 doubles. While hardpoint locations aren't ideal as much as the Ebon's are, still puts that build out there and it's the only one that can do it.

$30 for 7 hero mechs, 7 decals, and 3 war horns. I'm gonna have to do it.

They don't seem like particularly good mechs but I figure they're trying to sell more off of the "holy crap seven hero c-bill bonus mechs for $30" than that their quality as a combatant over others in its chassis series. Firestarter looks like the Ember, though, so that should be good for any light pilots.

Atlas pilots rejoice! 6 ENERGY, 2 missile,1 ballistic, this is amazing (unless it gets structure quirks then I'm not preordering)

If it's dire stars vs other assaults, I think just about any assault survives the hit and finishes the dire while it's shut down. Not sure how long the shut** down is for that nowadays though. If they can get one or 2 back shots that's gg though

Probably they'll be limits on loadouts and what you can bring more than likely.

That way people don't bring cheese builds... like bringing a Rocket Launcher Cyclops.

So we get new mechbay look?

For the new Urbie Hero -- lol, 210 max engine, max 6 Jump Jets, but only 3 Energy and 2 Ballistic, good for Large-laser builds. I don't know whether I'm supposed to be impressed or disgusted by a rather fast Urbanmech.

My S-Urbie is a LPL, 2xSPL, and 3xLMG (I used an ERPPC over the LPL at first, but I suck with PPCs). I'd gladly trade away an MG for another jet or more engine. Or, hell, both? ERLL, 2xERML, 2xLMG? With maxed XL engine, maxed jets, endo and Light Ferro? Or scrap the smaller guns and a pair of jets and just go 2xERLL? Not earth shattering, but definitely no less playable than any other Urbie.

I say Magenta, with Cerulean.

"Street Sweeper" my ***. That Urbie's gonna get Large-Laser builds with max engine and use it as a Laser Sniper, not that i decry the playstyle or ain't open for a second hero Urbanmech, but really that's just false advertising.

I'd rather they call it "City Hunter" or something like that.

I really don't decry the playstyle -- although i'd not call it Street Sweeper for a poker build.

Ah okay so, you don't even survive with 10 erppcs anymore. tested it. They've been turning up the heat with every other patch. And 100 damage really isn't killing any assault unless it's a backshot. I think that's fine. Rl's eehh same problem, i think a ful alpha from that suicides you too and won't kill an assault

People will try both, just to see if they can get their 1-Alpha kill.

The price point is hard to argue with and... well... there's an Urbie and a Rifleman in it, and that kinda makes it a must-have for me even though the hardpoints are unimpressive. I like the Griffin, too. IMO that justifies the $30, so the rest is gravy.

The Atlas does nothing new or interesting, the Firestarter is just a reverse Ember, and the Banshee is going to be pants if its torso hardpoints sit where the art puts them. The MDD is sort of interesting because it has a unique CT- first one with CT hardpoints- but I doubt I'll drive it because I didn't enjoy the MDD much when I tried one last.

With that Mad Dog hero you could put on the other hero's ballistic STs...

They'll try it, but there are some perfectly good 2 - 3 alpha kill builds in this game that will probably dominate
Dire Gauss vomit can ct kill the test atlas in 2 shots without overheating

I dunno, you can get an Alpha of 350 on an Archer 5W... 8xRL20 + 1xRL15. With max armor, a max standard engine, +6 double sinks, endo steel, and 1 ton and 1 crit slot open... TC1? Not that it would help missiles. Maybe drop a sink or two and grab a BAP and/or AMS?
