I'm really really tired of long duration lasers and super spread missiles that feel like I'm just tickling the enemy, I want some high impact, all or nothing, pin point, frontloaded damage. Gotta make my shots count and play well.

So what are some good PPFLD builds that you guys are enjoying?

I'm currently running around in this DRG-1C. I got my dual high mount right beside the cockpit HPPCs, my high armor quirks, decent speed, great agility, shield side so I can just peek up, take a shot, twist to the side, and absorb any return fire with no problems. I even have a couple ML thrown in to do something about people who get into the min range or to finish off some enemies.

...You know, it seems obvious in retrospect, but I just now realized all the mechs I like running are 'tickle' builds.

Huh.

Tickling can be pretty nasty if you do it hard enough, I know this from experience on the receiving end...

Same. My favorite 'Mechs have always been about using smaller, but faster, damage with high agility to place it where I want and when I want.

I enjoy medium pulse lasers on both clan and IS mechs. They are almost pinpoint, especially the IS ones.
My favorite chassis for those so far are the Hellbringer and the Cicada-2B.

Dual Heavy Gauss

The usual suspects.

That and the AH with AC/20 / SRMs are going to wreck just about everyone in Solaris. Full survival tree or not. Got a High Roller with the same build with 3 added MLs for internal finishers or damage baiting.

Honestly the whole tickle perspective is a bit wrong when you really look at it, sure you might not place all the damage to that one component , but if you are a good shot you will only spread over 2 components even if they twist, unless it's a sprinting light or fast medium.

So while you do ~40 dmg at best to 1 or 2 components due to non perfect convergence ( projectile speed of ~40 dmg alpha combos are varied and are never from the same location ) the other guy will tickle you with 60~78 dmg on 2 components. PPFLD has it's place and is best used when you know that the other guy will not have the time to unload a full burn on you , peeking and cresting, but in every other scenario larger alpha ( while having a competent shooter ) is preferable, at least in QP.

P.s.
Here's a funny idea if you can wait post patch http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cbfa9267843f066

There isn't an issue with convergence, what we have is what it was intended to be. Otherwise this would've been changed in Closed Beta.

Some of us! Took issue with this since beta USED to have a bloom reticule that was removed. Check convergence thread.

And the majority seems to be ocean king with it, so there you go. Make a game for the few or the many.

i revisited my old ON1-V recently and set it up with 2 UAC5s and 2 SNPPCs. very fun build with the -30% UAC5 jam chance and -20% energy cooldown.

Because shooting someone with 30 damage to one component assuming you can aim is an exploit. Posted Image

2 erppc purifier kit fox with ecm and 2 jj. Picked this up to play around with and it is wunderbar. Ridiculously high mounts and everything, i'm not even a fan of ppcs but this thing can do some work. If you can use lights effectively at least, ive always been a light/med fan.

Or just slap a bunch of erppcs into a direwolf and do the infamous troll build, go big or go home.
