Atlas might be better now, as this past patch should have upped the return on twist speed nodes for assaults and heavies to equal that of mediums.

Yes don't pilot one. The engine de-sink and mobility nerfs
killed the atlas along with the the rest of the 100 tonners.
Its a brawler that cant brawl. Leave it in the hanger, its dead.

Actually, you go from a brawl build to something more in line with newtech.

HGauss rather than AC/20. MRMs instead of multiple SRM launchers. Not a face-smash-range brawler, but you get more reach and can actually do some damage without being forced to walk through everyone's sights to get there.

Ironically enough, it also means the Atlas-K becomes surprisingly good in the Civil War tech era when it was considered one of the weakest of the variants before.

like 3 or 4% more of an atrocious base value is still atrocious.

Annihilator is easly among the best assaults in the game, while being a 100t mech. The atlas got hit the hard AF with the engine desynch (along with the spirit bear - rip my friend) because it lacks the ability to really boat anything and pretty much relies on close range engagements, where torso twist speed is essential to survive. Which it doesn't have.

AS7-D as well. Didn't have the hardpoints before, but now it can carry 3-4 large weapons in the torso (RAC/5, Ultra 20, HGauss, MRM30s+, etc). Couple that with the very hefty armor quirks it has... wow.

...you're joking right?

.5% per node with 5 nodes = 2.5%

58.5 torso speed wasn't enough when taking 17.5% what makes you think 20% is going to be any better?

A cyclops has 90 torso speed, the speed you would absolutely need to have if you wanted to brawl in an assault.

You would need to have +50% torso speed from those 5 nodes for an Atlas to even come close to a Cyclops.

Atlas is dead. Until they go back and actually change the agility and mobility of the 100 ton mechs they're all going to be garbage outside of the KDK 3 and ANH and those two are packing huge ballistic loadouts to even compete.

Try DHG in a Sleipnir and then try it in a ANH and tell me what felt easier to pilot.

No, I wasn't. I haven't used an Atlas in long time. Still haven't. I was unsure. That's why I used the word might, because I was floating a possibility, not making a judgement.
