What about the Notos? 60t, clan tech... ok, the production/introduction year of 3145 might be a bit too far in the future.

Since the Lupus and the Hellfire are basically the same mechs, it would make sense to release them as a Lupus Mechpack. Just like the Arctic Wolf, make the Lupus variants the standards and the Hellfire variants as reinforcements. That would effectively kill two birds with one stone.

Only problem with that Ares is the fact that it is not canon... the mech to actually carry the name Ares in canon is a slow moving death machine with three legs...

With roughneck and sun spider around canonicity is not an issue anymore. I've heard there's some licensing trouble with that Ares, but it cant be worse than licencing troubles with HG.

And also, what's the difference. Both canon and non-canon mechs are essentially imaginary robots and it doesn't really matter if the who person who made the design worked for fasa or not.
What does matter is if that particular mech is accepted by the community.

If we absolutely must have clan 60 tonner, I'll vote Predator or Matador. Unfortunately the clan 60 ton bracket is lacking in variants across a majority of it's mechs

Hellfire is my #1 pick for a new Clan Heavy, certainly the best best for a 60 tonner. Similar hitboxes to a Linebacker, optional MASC.

Glass Spider would be great (a true Clan Rifleman, not a heavier one that's closer to a Jagermech!), though it lacks variants, which has never stopped PGI in the past.

Predator looks fantastic, until you realise the cockpit is in the crotch (thanks to whoever pointed that out!)

I'm rather "meh" towards the Lupus, Matador & Thresher, even if the Thresher has links to one of my favourite Clan 'mechs, the Thor.

I'm pretty sure that the next mech in the rotation should be an IS light or medium. My bet's on a medium, likely one that has an existing fan base.

I don't know what they'd have to do to make it even a functional model for MWO, but the drugs would probably be banned in most of the civilized world if they succeeded.

You know what my biggest problem with that thing is?

Somewhere, someone got paid for that... (Assumption, I've never heard otherwise.)

Don't have a lot of choice for a 60t mecha... but the Sun spider would have been a great candidate to introduce a 60t Clan... lost opportunity.

We are not even into the Jihad era yet. Atm mechs 3068 and down are what their going to put in.

Yeah, we've got a -lot- of territory to cover timewise for MWO. The Jihad alone would be worth another few years of new tech adds and Mechpacks, assuming PGI could actually code the stuff into the current engine.

Given that, by my count, there's only two choices left for Clan 70 tonners that could reasonably added to the game (Grizzly and Guillotine IIC) I kinda think that if you want PGI to make 'mechs for underserved weight classes, then they did alright with this one... (Roughneck, not so much.)

Actually, both are identical in appearance and tonnage, it's just that one is an Omni and the other is a BattleMech. Even the lore of the Hellfire states that they are just Lupus' modified into battlemechs chassis by Clan Star Adder. So basically they are just like the Arctic Wolf with both battle and omni variants, but with a different name.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Sun Spider...should be decent and a good candidate for FP. Maybe another PGI inspired mech for a Clan 60-tonner would be a good bet, too.

I would preorder either the Madcat III or the Shadowcat II right now.

Right. Now.

I love that art for the Shadowcat II. It's so low and wide and aggressive-looking.

the remaining weight class that isn't on the extreme ends of the scale and that still only has one choice for Clans is the 60-ton class,

Clans need another 80 tonner too, one without an oversized engine.
