To the victor go the spoils. And one of those spoils is the right to trash talk. If trashtalk is limited to "GG" even if it clearly wasn't really a good game, that's about the least trashy trashtalk I've ever seen in a competitive video game.
Say it right.
When you're saying GG, say "Git gud". Be honest.
I'm fond of "Sorry for the stomp" when it's a total massacre of people who should never have been allowed near the same game, or even the game next to the one they shouldn't have been in. Games where if the opponent had a 200 damage game, they outdid the rest of the other 11.
At those points, I know it probably wasn't the other side having a bad day. It was the matchmaker straining, then pooping out a team that was made mostly for the purpose of the other team slaughtering them because it couldn't find anyone better than standard engine MG-and-small lasers with LRM 5's habitual Atlas player to stick on the second team.
I honestly think the MM makes one 12-man at a time, rather than building up two teams in tandem. This means one side is given the scraps far too often in this day and age, and that lends to the often imbalanced matchups.

The real problem is that it's the out-right entitlement and over-inflated view of self, that they don't want to acknowledge their own faults and grow as people, even get better. Don't get me wrong, there could be projections, sure -- but it's not like hyper-sensitive whiny people doesn't exist.

My results from MWO and Overwatch so far:
MWO:
Winner GGs: 835
Loser GGs: 336
Ratio: 2.485
Overwatch:
Winner GGs: 647
Loser GGs: 227
Ratio: 2.85
So basically, people are more than twice as likely to say GG if they win than if they lose. This basically shows that the little theory of "it's a handshake dude" isn't actually playing out in reality. People seem to only want to "shake hands" when they win.
The losing team’s members have probably gone back to the menu screen and aren’t around at the end to type GG as often as those of the winning side...?

Meh. I could go off on this tangent for hours if I wanted. Mostly because I'd go out further on 2 or 3 other tangents in the process. Probably blow the CoC to hell and back while I was at it. But I don't see much point to it right now. Besides, I have a livestream to do in the morning, and it's rapidly approaching 2 AM... I need to put aside the time destroying black hole that is the internet and get some sleep.
Have a good night, all.

either side
if its a 12-1 stomp from my team, where we more or less win by accident, i will gladly write BG in chat

1) GG if the match was "good", and the score is 12:6 or closer..
2) TFP (Thank you for playing) if it was a one-sided stomp with me winning (like 12:5 or less)
3) GGCLOSE if the match was really close, like 12:10 or 12:2 but the stomped side almost won on caps..
4) WP if I got stomped but want to congratulate the enemy team
Despite these good manners, I regularly see gg'ing on stomps from both sides.. Like I lose 2:12, and the enemy team throws us 3-4 gg's.. I don't find it salty.. I see it like this - they are not being salty and congratulating me on being stomped, they are saying they literally had a good game, and are congratulating their team.
Things I consider salty and toxic:
1) After you stomped me, saying something like "more LRMs next time please"
2) After doing poorly in a match, saying "crap team", "useless team" and such..
3) After a stomp, saying "ggclose"
4) After loosing a match, any sort of rant involving insults and general toxicity like "we had too many lrm boats" or "you people suck", or "we lost cose of X player is terribad" and such..
Also, any sort of toxicity and insult slinging during the match, as well as someone explaining to me in-depth just how much my LRM Supernova should be rocking ATMs is a sure way to get to my block list.

If you are still living in a child's mindset where innocuous things like "gg" offend you you aren't of a mature enough mindset to participate with the rest of the world yet.

I say thanks for the match to the losing team.
I only say GG to the other team if the other team says it first.
If I want to show my sportsmanship, I make sure that it is the message that gets across when I type in Chat. Because I can't shake their hands and say good match like in real life.

I just say "thanks for the match" if it was a stomp in my favor. "GG" is for the actual good games.
Their signature was "ggclose" and not "gg".

"gg" in All chat is just a spit on enemy team, don't mistake it for anything else. I totally disapprove this.
Please do not assume your toxic interpretation is the same as everyone. Many see it for what it is -- a handshake at the end of a drop.

Communication is a two-way street. The sender bears just as much responsibility as the receiver, if not more.
When I say "*()&@#$^*()@#DH@#*(@*@H!!!!!", that is clearly an insult. On the other hand, "gg" is not.

It could be interpreted as meaning there are many sore losers playing MWO.

Heh, sadly, none of those things are benchmarks for leaving that mindset behind. There are a lot of guys in this game in their 30s, 40s, and 50s that have not matured past middle school. Just the way that it is.
