Sadly it's not an equivalent to the Piranha, to be the equivalent it would need to be 5-10t heavier and have 10/12 B hard points while moving at the same speed as the Piranha....

Basically 2.5 ton of ammo for 8 machinegun and 1ton laser, or 3 tons of ammo if use 0.5ton laser, but IS Small is really bad so basically 2.5 ton of ammo.

It's worse version of piranha unless quirks are involved.

What's the available tonnage? I think someone said 7.5 earlier? Is that with the std or an lfe?

Replace the std with a lfe and you'll gain quite a bit, along with the endo frame.

0.5 tons for 6 is 3 tons, 3 small lasers is 1.5 more tons. That leaves 3 tons for ammo.

So basically, its viability is entirely dependent on quirks, which we will not have access to until the 'Mech is released and which may change a later point?

Something is wrong with that setup. I cannot recreate that build on actual in-game mechlab.

You can use Ferro if you downgrade to single heatsink.

The Flea had it's own concept art years before the Piranha was even considered. I see it as a "data collection" for MGs for further "balancing" (and you know how well this will go). IS doesn't really have MG lights other than the Spider 5K and Locust 1V, while the clans have multiple Piranhas, Arctic Cheetah and Mist Lynx. This is a welcomed addition, especially with more ballistics (the 19 and Fire Ant).

Nan... losing 3 slots to the engine cap kills this mech compared to the locust on energy builds and also the MG build is completely worthless due to IS weapon weight. As a light pilot.. pass.

Base: 137.7
MASC: 20%
Tweak: 7.5%

MASC'd speed without tweak: 165.24
Maximum possible speed: 175.5675

Looks like we've either got a new speed cap for the game, or PGI is gonna nerf the MASC and/or the Flea's speed to make it work (which defeats the entire purpose of even having it).

For reference, the current highest speed is 167.1625 kph on a Commando with speed tweak.



Isn't MASC MK1 only 10%?

Then I calculate something about 162.83 kph.

Would it have killed them to make the engine cap 175, allowing an extra included heatsink. Not cool PGI, not cool.

Happy for the like 12 people who actually have been clamoring for it (it's nice when people get mechs they love, for whatever reason), I just hope they are some realistic as to what they are actually gonna get.

Which is a not a lot.

I just wish it actually looked like... IDK... a Flea?

yup... If the HG issue wasn't going on right now, I think the Wasp or Stinger would've been much better choices... granted they wouldn't be any faster than the Flea, but at least they have 6 JJ's....

DOubt we'd see them, either way. Be dumb to add them before MW5. But we could have had an Argus, or Chimera, or some of the other chassis.

So yeah. With a 170XL, endo, FF and 4 std heat sinks, you're left with 7.5T and 13 slots to work with (after stripping the head to 5). Hmmm. It's not a lot. It is 1T more than a max engine locust though.
