"I'm a _(assault)_ in _(coord)_ with a light harassing me, can I get some help please?"
Takes up no tonnage. Teamwork & comms OP.

This is coming from someone who runs a COM-DK with glee. that is what its for, look for out of position and unsupported mechs and take them apart piece by piece.
my two best played classes are assaults and lights. i think if you play the former you should play the latter as well, that way you can understand the tactics that will be used against you and develop appropriate counters.

this will work assuming your team hasn't already thrown you under the bus. having a mic alone doesn't give you command presence, so no guarantee you will get any help at all. even then ive seen top notch commanders be flat out ignored or totally disrespected by their supposed teams.

As is, right now, playing a light mech is playing on the edge. It is very easy to get taken out of the fight by one wrong over extension or one missed targeting.. and there is a lot of patience that go into actually having an impact on the fight.

We've all been there, though...
Not if learn ropes in lights and work up. Sure die in a blaze of glory A LOT but learn a lot more about positioning so die a lot less.

If not close by they will throw you under bus as are dead weight (and you are,) however if close by it means they have a chance to nab a light snack to pad their killboards and a lot more likely to help. It's why it pays to be in 1st and 2nd line as more "Buddies" to help.

How about you use that proposed 4 tons on your anti light crutch and invest in one of the following:
1 x s-srm 4 and a ton of ammo
4 x medium lasers
8x small lasers
4 x small pulses
2x med pulse
some mg's
seismic sensor
Use one of these and ditch that token small laser, don't dip below 60kph on your mech and stay with team (preferably front and center) and get back to us if you still have that light infestation in your crotch.
I will never not like this video.

its just that people use a mic as kind of a cure all, but its useless if you (and/or your team) are a potato. im pretty good with assaults but nascars do happen and if you decided to take your dire wolf or anihilator that game you will find yourself in a bad spot. but if you stay low and avoid giving away your position you can get back to your team. even if you get intercepted you should be able to fight off a light mech or perhaps two. its all part of the assault game.

I almost never play Lights because I am garbage at them, but "put your back to a wall" and "stay with your team" aren't exactly super difficult concepts.

If you can't go 60kph and keep up with the team you should know the risks involved when playing with pubs. I like my 6x ac 5 mauler but it slow AF and have been sniped by lights before. However I know that to pump out 30ac worth of pleasure every 1.5 seconds into a reds mechs face non stop I may be left behind to fend for my self and that is the risk I take to use this thing of beauty.

yea, ultra slow mechs are problematic in any mode. though i suspect it will be something done well in solaris. my 8cac2 dire is one of my favorite assaults, and its only viable through its extreme range. its good at taking out approaching lights so i like to keep my head on a swivel .

Occasionally **** happens but generally you shouldnt lose 1v1 with a light.
How many people bother to reverse into a wall when they get attacked? or include 1 JJ if possible for faster turning? or unlock the arms from the torso? or bring any weapon with a max range of under 600m?
Its all how you play and what you build
Edited: Lights arent a problem, i much rather come across a light than a MAD-IIC
